2k8 official-SEE YA LATER MADDEN :)

Dunno how well it will sell, with no NFL License. I am intrigued to see what they do.

2K Sports Returns to the Gridiron
Forget Madden, 2K Sports gives you All-Pro Football 2K8.
by Douglass C. Perry

January 30, 2007 - Quietly and in its own way, 2K Sports never gave up the dream of making another, better football game. Today, with little aplomb, Visual Concepts announced the return of non-Madden football in the name of All-Pro Football 2K8 -- news that will surely excite the masses.

Other than its arrival on next-generation videogame systems this summer, 2K Sports provided no other details. The site says the game will feature the "legendary gameplay, innovative features, and outstanding visual quality sports gamers have come to expect from 2K Sports." IGN predicted this in a recent article, including speculation that 2K will sign up individual retired pros to get around EA's stranglehold on the licensed football market.

"Football gamers have been awaiting the return of the 2K series," said Greg Thomas, president of Visual Concepts, a 2K Sports studio. "All-Pro Football 2K8 will deliver an authentic next generation gridiron experience and we are happy to give fans another choice in the football category."

We'll have more on All-Pro Football 2K8 soon.

i agree. will be a tough sale. what i see them doing is making it very easy to import and export rosters and setting up a dummy site to leak the rosters.

i can't remeber it the ea exclusive covers the use of the nfl uniform. if they don't have the uniforms, they can forget about it.

Why does it matter that much to you? I could care less if it's the NFL or CFL or no names. As long as the gameplay is good I am in.

i would say it matters to a very high percentage of the sport game buyers. if they don't have real people and real uniforms it is not going to be a high volumn seller, no matter how good the game is. exceptions would be the blitz and extreme verisions of the game.

plus, i never said it mattered to me, just said it would be a tough sale. it will be a tough sale if it is only a traditional football game.

I agree its going to be a tough sale, but just for me, i go back to my dreamcast days of 2k1, and LOVE this franchise

If the game is good and has a good draft, FA, front office aspect I'll buy it doesn't mater if it has real teams. I remember a certain EA game that didn't have real Teams or Players the first few years it was out.

Real teams matter to me.

I will be buying Madden.

That being said, the 2k series will have my money as well this season on reputation alone with being able to put out a good product. I think all of their 2k7 products and most of their 2k6 iterations had online leagues, which Madden hasn't decided to do since 2001. That's the clincher for me.

I'm getting a bit of enjoyment out of Blitz: The League for 360... mostly cause it is so over the top.

It's EA, Madden 08 will be on PS3, 360, PC, PS2, DS Lite, Cell Phones, Ipods, Stained Glass Windows, Calculators, Car Stereos, Satellite Radio Receivers, GPS and anything else EA can think of.

2k will be valid competition with some of the disappointment that has come after the exclusivity agreement.

Madden sucked...as a matter fact...EA Sports has slipped sharply in the last couple of years. 2kSports have been much better. I hate that EA has the licenses.

Great News

Agreed! 07 is by far the best Madden ever but it is STILL not as good of a game as NFL 2K5.

Think about the huge buzz this will create, EA has had two releases on the next gen platforms and haven't done much with them. I doubt 08 will be much different. At this point the only reason to get Madden 08 is the roster update, and Unless TO leaves Dallas their are no big off season moves in the wind and no GREAT draft picks coming out that will make an immediate impact so getting Madden 08 just for the roster update will not be a pressing issue.

I predict those who alreayd have Madden 07 and have never tried a 2K football game will try it out. Those of us who know the deal will be all over it regardless.

EA is falling further and further down the todem pole year after year. I don't even know anyone who bought NBA Live this year. NBA 2K7 is unbelievable!

Nah I think they'll add more to franchise, with an outside chance of online franchise, optimize things some more so they run better (Superstar is painful to play with the load times whenever you take the field and allocate your influence points) and also the PS3 version introduced gange tackling.

What won't happen but wish it would is > 53 man rosters, a practice squad, and cut down days so you can sign all of your draft picks, run them through preseason and cut peeps based on need/injury when the cutdown days come along.

Have they finally got gang tackling in? 2k5 had that....finally in 2007 EA catches up. I am anxious to see the next version of Madden because that was a big deal for me.

EA madden may be on the downfall but i see the nhl seriea ea has as vastly superior to 2k hockey efforts year after year
for christ sakes 2k when people buy a hockey game they want to play it, same goes with 2k baseball

What are you talking about? EA forced you to learn a new way to shoot that sucks.

im saying i purchased 2k5 and 2k6 hockey and baseball and i could not complete a season, the games was filled with glitches and freezes on multiple platforms

I like ea hockey and i did like there shortlived mvp basball series

i hope 2k sports will someday produce a title worth playing there dreamcast titles rocked but since then there games have been lacking

I agree that last years 2k baseball sucked hard. I could never play online. It kept saying I had to load a profile of which I was trying to do.
