269 Changed Behavior

A long with the other changes, 269 also took away the ability to directly enter channel numbers of channels NOT in the current favorite list.

For example: If you have a favorite list active that does not have CNN in it, you can no longer just enter 200 and have the receiver change to that channel. It will only accept channels that are in the active favorite list.

Prior to 269 and on all other dish receivers we have seen, you could always change to any channel if you knew the number.

We are custom installers and use programmable remote controls and touch panels to allow our customers direct channel access. Now they will not work if the user takes advantage of favorite lists.

Is there any work around for this?

Thanks,

Th only solution is to stay in the ALL channels or ALL subscribed channel list... :no

For some, this may be a suitable workaround now that "Hide Locked" has been added. If you "lock" the garbage channels, then choose "hide", those channels disappear from All Sub and All Chan lists. It almost negates the need for individual favorites for many people.

One bug (surprise surprise): Locked-out Sirius channels don't stay locked-out. They're gone for only a short while before they return.

Prior to 269, when I would enter a channel either on purpose or by accidently not on my current Favorites List, it appeared that sometimes this would cause my 811 to lock up or have the guide download problem. This is probably why the software was changed and I believe that the 811 should work as it is now. I would not consider this a bug especially with the channel lock/hide function that has been added. I believe my 510 works the same way.

Probably in their contract. ;)

This one will most definitely annoy. Since I mainly use my guide for channel changing, I don't run into it. Would be a good question, but the response will be "fixed in next release". Hopefully this was not an expected change in behavior. This smells like a side effect bug.

The thought had crossed my mind that it was intentional. Right! As if I'm suddenly gonna wanna listen to Country Hip-hop, Reggae Opera, Songs That Begin With an H, or one of the other 40 or 50 useless-to-me Sirius channels. How many people really listen to more than 10 or 20 Sirius channels on Dish?

OTOH, lets just hope it's a bug, because nobody could be that fuggin stupid. Can they?

My list of sirius stations I listen to consists of 4 channels ;)

Exactly! I think I listen to maybe 4 as well, but would like to keep about a dozen in my EPG, just in case.

Perhaps someone can call tonight about this bug, as well. (Of course, losing direct channel entry is obviously more urgent.)

Buzzsaw IS great. Probably my favorite. But, that DJ desrves a folding chair to the back of the head.

Yeah. Obviously the talent director took the name of the channel too literally when hiring. Buzzsaw = loud and annoying.
