Nickelodeon has decided to officially shutdown Nick GAS as of January 1, 2009 For Dish Network Subscribers.


Is this actually going to happen?

I'm not sure if its true or not, but I cannot find anything about this anywhere else. I guess this could be Dish's the next "New Year's Surprise". There is always something hinki that goes on New Year's day and I guess this could be it. I just wish I could find some other corroborating info. Wikipedia is really not the place for this type of information.

I hope so, but I'd rather they just start playing Maisy again. Maybe they'll add it to the schedule in '09.

Sadly I could see Dish yanking GAS but leaving The N and Noggin together as a negotiating tactic. He is supposedly working on an HD deal with Viacom.

My guess on what caused this-

Nick GAS was in the AT250/Gold/whatever package, and Noggin was in the AT200/Silver (or maybe lower?) package. Charlie would have been happy to put "The N" (awful name) in the AT250 in GAS's place, but didn't want people to complain that it had been moved into a more expensive package.

My guess, since it appears they are trying to make nice- "The N" will be added to the lower package, and Logo will go into the upper package. He might have just been trying to ride it out until the next price increase. Gotta save those nickles.

Has Nick GAS actually had any new programming since early summer?
There were rumors floating around that the current incarnation of GAS was a rotation of reruns that was fed from either Echostar or Nick itself.

Why would they put any effort into it? It only exists because Charlie forced them.

EDIT: I read somewhere that it had been totally automated for a while, even before Viacom pulled the plug. It was just a computer running a big loop of programming.
