211 vs. 622

Hello all, sort of a newb here, but I have been trying to keep up with all of the recent changes with regards to receivers. I just got off the phone with a tech person at Dish to upgrade my leased 811 to a 211 for the $49 special. He advised to wait until 4/1/06 so that I could lease a 622 for $99 ($299-200 rebate). Obviously, I'd rather wait if this scenario were true. However, I've been reading on these threads that this $200 rebate only applies to people who lease or own a 942 (hence it wouldn't apply to me). I asked him about this and he said he's fairly certain that I would receive the special too. I'll wait if this is the case, but if not, I'm going the 211 route. Any news? Thanks!

The CSR was wrong to tell you that afaik from reading the upgrade paths on these forums. Leased 811 Dish customers are NOT eligible for the $200 rebate. They are misinforming people because.. well, because the reps themselves do not understand what is going on. Call them back and set up to get either the 622VIP for $299 or the 211 for $49. There is no deal for 811 leasers on April 1st.

What about those of us with a 921, who want to keep it for the dual SD+OTA+Mpeg2?

Some have said we will be able to keep it, preferred. If not $200 would not be bad for those features. I would do it sooner if I have to pay $299.

Can we upgrade to the 622 with the rebate if we lease a 942? I have 1-942, and 2-811s amd would like to get all 3 upgraded eventually. The 211s for $49 is a good deal now, if I won't qualify for the $200 rebate in april with the leased 942....

Rep told me the same thing today about $200 rebate on 4-1 and I have 811. Besides, who would trust that what they tell you today, may still apply months later? If these VIPs don't do as well as they expect, they may throw all types of promos at us.
