2013 NFL Playoffs/Super Bowl

Hard to believe that the guy taken in the 6th round of the 2000 draft, the guy that was 4th string as a rookie behind Drew Bledsoe, John (Mr.) Friesz and Michael Bishop, the guy that Bill Belichick refused to cut......that guy now has more postseason wins than any other quarterback in NFL history. More than Montana, Bradshaw, Staubach and Elway..........guys that I grew up watching.

I saw that coming the day Mo Lewis knocked Drew Bledsoe into Rhode Island. Yeah right.......

Re: 2012-13 NFL Playoffs

Caught just a bit of Pete Carrol's post game presser. I think he said he was complaining to the Ref that Bryant was allowed to take a practice kick after timeout was called. He said he was told by the officials before the game that practice kicks in that situation were not allowed.

Things like this should be a delay of game penalty imo, just like spikes in some situations if timeout I'd called reasonably before a kick.

He missed it...but timeout was called. Yikes!

Ha! Icing the kicker fails again!

HOPEFULLY this will put an end to the moronic strategy of "icing" the kicker!

Damn good game between Seattle/Atlanta. I actually fell asleep, I just got very tired all of a sudden and the next thing I know Seattle is right back in the game. Seattle should've stopped Atlanta before Atlanta kicked the game winning field goal. Instead Ryan completes a pass to the middle of the field and then kicks the winning FG. Btw, icing the kicker didnt work. I think when your in a position like Seattle was, you do what you have to do. If it means icing the kicker so be it.

I would like to know why Marshown Lynch didnt get the ball on 3rd and 1? It happened twice and Seattle didnt make the first down either time.

Pats won but Gronk is out for the rest of the postseason according to Jason LaConforna of CBS. Pats just too much and once the Texans got behind and were down by 11, that was it. Its so hard to come back on the Pats and Schab throwing an INT at 24-13 when the Texans were driving didnt help. Btw, the Pats special teams wasnt that great either. The returner for the Texans was fantastic. Almost had 2 TDs.

What a difference a conference makes- the AFC has the same 2 teams from last year, with New England trying to extend the Pats-Colts-Steelers SB streak since the 2003-04 season.

The NFC, by contrast, will have new blood in the 49ers/Falcons.

The Patriots are making their ninth appearance in the AFCCG, which is third behind the Steelers (15) and Raiders (11). However, a win will tie them with the Steelers (8) for the most ever.

RAMSEY: Broncos bring extreme suffering to our state

DAVID RAMSEY
THE GAZETTE
Eugene Pacheco rose early Sunday morning at his home central Colorado Springs to begin a sad task. It was bone-chillingly cold. Didn’t matter to Eugene. He had important work to do.

He walked outside and removed the orange-and-blue lights that lined his home. He had planned to keep them burning every night until Feb. 3, when he expected the Broncos to reign as NFL champions.

“Oh, I was just so upset with them,” Pacheco said. “This is so upsetting. Everything was in place for us.”

I realize football is just a game. The Broncos 38-35 double-overtime loss to the Ravens should not have delivered immense impact to the lives of most Colorado residents.

But it did.

Pacheco, 47, is an unapologetically extreme Broncos devotee. He plans to be buried in an orange suit and wants everyone attending his funeral to be sure to wear orange, too.

He sets off bottle rockets in his backyard after every Denver touchdown. He watched the game Saturday alongside his father, Zenon, and he sprinted into the backyard after all of the Broncos' five scores. He planned for a final fireworks extravaganza following the Broncos' victory.

On a sad Sunday, he spent several moments looking at those unused bottle rockets, a reminder of one of the most devastating losses in Broncos history.

It might have been the most devastating loss.

“For me, it was the worst,” Pacheco said. “Because of the expectations, the 11-game winning streak. We had worked over Baltimore before.”

The idea of devoting your heart to a sports team makes no sense. It is utterly – and wonderfully – illogical.

Why allow a collection of players you have never met to put a dent in your heart? Why sit in front of a television screen watching a game played hundreds of miles away while shouting mean words to the bad guys who oppose the team you adore? (They can’t hear you.)

Why?

I don’t know.

But part of what joins many of us together is our collective defiance of logic. I grew up in Denver in a home packed with Broncos freaks. I no longer mourn when the Broncos lose. For one thing, it would be unprofessional.

My family still suffers.

My brother spent much of Sunday morning moaning. I didn’t even need to ask him why. He had sat in the south stands at Mile High Saturday, braving the threat of frostbite while fully expecting the Broncos to roar to victory. He was in full mourning on Sunday.

I talked with my sister by phone. I ask, as I always do, how she was doing.

“Still struggling,” she said. “Still struggling.”

Again, I didn’t even need to ask why. Her favorite team had been conquered by an inferior opponent.

I spoke with Pacheco for 15 minutes, and most of the conversation concerned his shock. A house in the central Springs will be dark tonight, and Pachecho had believed it would glow blue-and-orange for weeks.

A defeat ruined his weekend. This defeat ruined several million weekends.

Pacheco’s devotion was shaken, but not vanquished.

“I’m really excited about next year,” he said.

Of course he is.

Of the 16 teams in the NFC, only five of them have not advanced to a Super Bowl the last 12 seasons (Dallas, Washington, Minnesota, Detroit and the SF-ATL loser).

I'm getting the feeling you were really afraid to play the Broncos again, and are very relieved you don't have to.

If Baltimore can beat them, Patriots would dismantle them, like they did earlier this year.

I told you for weeks that Manning was a playoff choke artist. You did not want to believe it. 9-11 speaks for itself. The national media forbade it to be discussed?
Hopefully for your teams sake, Manning was sitting on his couch watching TFB yesterday and took notes on how not to gag away a playoff game.

"I see what you did there"

SO, using your logical reasoning, the Ravens will be handing the Patriots their shriveled head on a platter next Sunday. The Ravens did beat them earlier this year, in case you've forgotten.

And just to extend your logic - (this was first brought up in the NCAAF thread by someone else)

Louisville whipped Florida's ass, so using your reasoning, that means that Syracuse and UConn would easily whip Florida's ass as well, because they beat Louisville and are better teams than Florida.

Since you're having fun making stuff up and living in fantasy land, how about this scenario-

This offseason, Bil Bellicheck comes out and states they have traded Tom Brady straight across for Peyton Manning.

DO you -

a) Root for Tom Brady and the Broncos because he's the better QB

b) Root for Peyton Manning because he is now the Patriots QB, and no matter what his playoff record, he'll do better because he is now on a better TEAM?

c) shoot yourself in the head.

I can hear that gator brain sizzling from here...........................

It happens every year.A team comes in as a 1 or 2 seed looking like they are the clear favorites. Then they get eliminated.Seen it happen many times,it will happen again.Having home field advantage isn't near as important as it used it be.That's why I favor Baltimore over NE.Giants have done it twice,Packers done it,and the freaking AZ Cardinals were very close to doing it.
