2010 NFL Draft

I HATE Florida (and have general disregard for the SEC as a whole ;) ), but I have read that the spread is all they used, and Tebow NEVER took a snap at center because he was always in the shotgun (which is a big concern). I could be wrong, Insider could tell us more.....

That's what I understood of that offense too, and basically why this is such a big risk. We ran the spread for several games, then Larry Johnson came back from his latest slap-a-ho incident and had no lead blocker in the spread formation, was more or less ineffective as a runner. Have to have variety in the NFL, can't run just one like that.

I think Tebow can learn (how well he will do in a different scheme is the question), but is he going to have to go through a couple years of QB controversy to get there? I really think how they handle the Orton/Quinn/Tebow threesome over the next couple of seasons will ultimately determine if he's successful. Could even see Orton put up a career year under this pressure, just to be let go Brees-style.

I think the good thing is, Tebow will do anything he is asked, he is like a little puppy in that respect, and he will NEVER be a disruption in the locker room. And McDaniels should be able to keep the situation under control.

Orton only has a 1 year deal, so there is speculation that Orton this year, Quinn next year (2 yr deal and he's cheap), and then Tebow, with Tebow being used as I said abovein the next 2 years. Who knows????

I also want to add about D. Thomas. The pundits are calling him McDaniels' own Randy Moss. If that's true, than I'm all for it.

The Chiefs are so mediocre at so many positions, I am not even sure what to root for in round 2, we pick 4th and 18th (from the Tony G trade).

Mt. Cody, for our 3-4 defense? Golden Tate, a decent WR? All the focus is going to be on QBs, Bills and Browns both said to have contacted the Rams for the 1st pick in the 2nd, and Vikings sitting there are number 2 probably poised to take what's left.

Yeah, I'd rather give Cassel another year and with the OC that developed the system that he was able to use successfully in NE, rather than drafting a QB this year.

Bowe and Chambers can both stretch the field, and from what I know of Clausen he isn't much of a 'throw it deep' QB.

Yeah, that's why I'm kind of leaning towards wanting the Browns to draft another guy on the defensive side, possibly Sergio Kindle from Texas with our 2nd round pick.

We have 3 picks in the 3rd and I know there will still be some decent QB's in that round.

Cant say he "never" took a snap from center, but 99% of the time certainly was from the shotgun formation. They ran the spread, and option. I dont know if I can recall a time Tebow started and they ran the NFL style "I" formation.

What made FLA tough to defend against is they had great running backs, a QB who can run, and tight ends/recievers who could all do damage. Teams had a tough time reading who was going to take the ball, as anyone could even the QB..

Im not sure how well that will relate for Tebow in the NFL, as I am not sure hell be chargeing full steam into any line backers in the NFL like he did in college.. However Tebows passing game was not bad. He was a 70%+ passer. Its not like he does not have an arm and accuracy.. His last season as a gator however was not as good, as he really had no major hand to throw to the receivers drop MANY perfect passes.

Hot & Heavy rumor out of Cleveland, the Browns are considering taking Free Safety, Nate Allen from South Florida....

I think someone is going to trade w/ the Rams into the first pick of the 2nd round and take whichever QB they want. Just throwing that out there so you're mentally prepared.... ;)

That trade is going to be at a decently inflated price, with the Vikings going next, it has to be assumed they're going to take a QB and the report today that the Vikings expect Brett to play 'maybe two more years' has to be a smoke screen so that people don't trade ahead of them.

They Bills were rumored to be pretty hard up for Tebow, Ralph Wilson lashed out today: http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2010/04/23/ralph-wilson-rips-tim-tebow-pick-denver-panicked/

"Denver panicked,'' Wilson said. "He's a good player but we had no interest in taking Tebow. We were not moving up to take Tebow."

Here's a nice quote for you Sabres...

"I think he [Spiller, their first round pick] was the best player in the draft,'' Wilson said. "We've been dull for 10 years . . . no excitement. We've got to create some excitement.''

I know about having many holes to fill, but you should be happy that the Lions are committing to building around your young QB, giving him all the tools to succeed. That is very important.

Good point here HD MM. Stafford would have to fall off a cliff at this point to not be successful.
