2009 Stanley Cup Playoffs

IMO it's all ratings, they probably think most people will be with their families instead of sitting in front of their T.V.s watching the game.

Then they should make it an evening game ... most families do stuff during the day ...

fwiw, I don't care either way about a game today or not.
I think it's just how the schedule worked out, they would rather have the games on Saturday and Sunday if they can work it out, so you wouldn't have the Sunday game playing back to back days, they have a tendency to play on Tuesday nights.

Well after an asswhooping like that and the black hawks committed playoff suicide and self destructed. While it's not too late, the question is, is does the young team have what it takes to come back from the dead and make a fight of this. I know detroit fans all around here are gloating and think they are definatly in, Dont count your chickens before they hatch as you never know what's gonna happen. If Chicago came back from the dead and went on to stun the redwings, that would be a story line that the NHL would want as that would draw in ratings.

Sorry guys but seeing Chris Cheleo's on the bench is like seeing the Grateful Dead :D

The young Blackhawks self destructed from the Kronwall hit. They have a young, good team and are are a defensemen and a future goalie away from competing, as the current backup is not one that I see moving into a starting role. Maybe a scotty Bowman step away from taking the next step?? Coach Quenville, should take some blame for yesterdays game, as all on the mind of the Blackhawks was retrubution, which landed them in the penalty box and the sloppy play.

I will count my chickens....Next up Sidney Crosby and the NBC annoited defending cup champs. While I will sacrifice HD picture, I will be watching the finals on CBC

WOW..... Is all I have to day... The refs will call a weak ass hit on bufflin, when he was coming to an aid of a fellow player, yet detroit slashes one of our sticks wich goes flying in the air and was an obvious penalty and it doesnt get called. That lead to the breakaway goal that was just scored. This is like the last game, except instead of detroit being in the box, its chicago, and detroit is now up by two. Also, Habbi needs to get the hell out of the goal, Hurt or not the bullin wall needs to be in there. This is the playoffs. You play hurt, You have the next 4-5 months to heal.

Who is Bufflin? Is that the guy we in Detroit call Butt-Fugly?

Nothing left in this series but the crying. No Lidstrom, no Datsyuk, no Draper, no Lilja. No more wins for Chicago. Chicago totally lost their composure yesterday.

BTW, you guys have anymore goaltenders we can't beat up on?

Counting my chicken's and Stanley Cups! Next!

Carolina at Pittburgh should be a good one tonight. I still think Carolina has a good shot of winning this series.

To be honest, this time of year most people in NC are busy watching cars drive in circles and could care less about a real sport like hockey. However, I know several northerners who have relocated to the Raleigh/Cary area...but they still cheer for their Red Wings, Bruins, etc., and only follow the Hurricanes when they make it to the Conference Finals.

In any case, I think Carolina is going to surprise a lot of people.

That's only of the reasons why I feel Carolina will win the series; their team still has a lot of veteran players who played against the Wings in the finals in 2002, and won the Cup in 2006.

What do you think now Riff?

Didn't mean to single you out, but you were the only Carolina supporter here!

Butt-foo-glyn, Buttfugly, Buttfugler, and Byff are all acceptable variations. I am still puzzled why Kronwall was given a 5-minute major and ejected for a hit that was a clean as the wind driven snow, yet it is OK for 260 lb. Byff to come flying in from the side, after the whistle, and smack Kronwall with an elbow. How about 5 minutes on Buttfugly for charging and a game misconduct?

Brian Campbell is playing as poorly as any defenseman I have ever seen, and he is almost single-handedly giving away the series. What a shmoe! Maybe if this guy would play his position and be less hypocritical of Kronwall's legal hit, then perhaps the Blackhawks wouldn't have been blown-out yesterday. Brian Campbell is on the league's rules and competition committee, but he needs to be removed for his asinine comments!

From what I've seen, the young Blackhawks are the 4th best team in the Western Conference. Sorry, but San Jose and Anaheim would have bounced Chicago from the playoffs. Offhand, I don't see how the Blackhawks make the Conference Finals next year since they will have to step-up their game a level to compete with the Ducks and Sharks, and two levels to compete with the Wings. Plus, they will have to deal with goaltending and salary cap issues in the offseason...they can't afford to keep Khabibulin at 7 million per years and their 5+ million Huet is a dud.

That's why I figure them to be at least 2 yrs. away from serious Stanley Cup contention. Not to mention that Detroit isn't going away anytime soon. We have a lot of young talent trying to find ice time. Spot on comment about Chicago's goaltending, and you were also right about the them having to crawl over SJ and Anaheim. Anaheim's #8 seeding this year was a fluke, they were the champs just 2 season's ago.

Yah but look at the bright side for you guys....If you were to win the west, you'd have to listen to all that Sidney Crosby crap thru the finals

I am a Detroit Fan and am not saying it's over, why are you ?

Im not, but your fellow detroit fella's are. The beard is growing extra strong here!!!!!!!!!

That said, it was a very impressive win considering the talent that was out of the Wings line up.
The young kids want to play very badly and are making thier case for playing time whenever a vet is out.

fwiw, I have altered my beard situation ... due to working with the public it's probably not a good thing for me to grow a beard for 2 months, besides it gets too warm in these months to have one ... that said, I have decide to NOT shave on game days ... essentially giving me 2 days by game time.
It doesn't take long for mine to show up, but to grow in to the amount you would like would take a few weeks.

And you will...and Sir Sid will reign as King as he so rightfully deserves. He has had to sit and watch and listen to all that Ovetchkin Bullsh!t. Crosby is the King...hands down!
