Ok. Here's the scenario. I have a future install where the customer is making the jump from D* to E*. On paper they want 4 rooms. So far so good.

It gets a little tricky from here...

They're asking for (4) 311's. Ordinarily, I would mention they could save $10/month. The problem is the house is pre-wired with RG59 AND they don't want any new wires on the outside of the house. Which is completely understandable.

So...it looks like I'm stuck using the 311 setup along with a Leg. Quad; seeing as how the Legacy swept-testing requirements aren't as high.

Any chance I could make the (2) 322's happen with DP+ twin, diplex's and separators? The cable runs to each TV are relatively short; 50 foot or so

I would definitely not try to push DP+ signal plus backfeed through rg-59.
Any chance of setting up the 322's in the basement or something and making all tv's work with uhf's? then you can feed the picture through rg-59 no problem.

put the 322's in the basement and get 2 4.0 UHF #1 remotes and use their 59 as the feeds after the receiver and you are fine

Wow! I can NOT believe I didn't think of the central-locate idea. :) Thanks! *knocking on wood* That may be the best bet. Assuming everything is home-ran

I really would rather not see a customer pay for extra receivers when they could get the same service for less money

One other thing about the central-locate - it probably won't matter if everything is "home-ran".

Two 322's makes a 3-channel "mini-headend". I say three, because trying to put TV1 of both units on the same cable is generally a problem (channels 3 & 4 are too close).

Also, make SURE you push DVR on them. If they turn it down, that's fine, but this covers you from them coming back in 2 weeks yelling that you didn't tell them and now they're screwed from getting a deal on it.

If you get a simple single channel UHF/Cable Channel modulator, you can add the 2nd tuner of the second 322 without running into the 3/4 channel problem.

Good point! And with the right one, that would make it stereo too!

I forgot that the TV1 RF outputs are NOT stereo.

Thanks everyone!

Unfortunately, I'm stuck (so is the customer!) with the 4 311's. I was not aware of the fact that this was an SBC account and thus, they do not allow 322's. This area has recently been taken over by SBC from Sprint, so I'm gonna claim ignorance as my excuse. LOL

I can go on and on about my theories as to why they don't allow (price gouging...reliability issues??) them, but I'm sure that's already been covered in another thread. *sigh*

Well, my Locals are now officially gone...
