So Dish Network told me that I had to buy another 622 personally if I wanted another HD receiver on my account.

I currently have 2 622's. So I did, from ebay.

I called them and they sent an installer last saturday. He said I had a 1000 dish and said I needed a 1000.2 dish. So he left and I called Dish and they said no, i need a dp34 switch.

They then scheduled another guy to come out next saturday with the dp34 switch.
That was today.

He came and installed it, mind you in the rain and bad weather. Ever since then, we cannot get each receiver to work and see all the satellites. He called Dish several times about it, they said he hooked it up right and that it must be the weather.

Whatever, I really don't think so. On my 2 original 622's, I can pull in some SD channels on 110 and 119.

On the new one, I got it to see Hist HD on 129 and nothing else yet. I have a 1800 sqft house with the new receiver on the other side of the house. The run is in my attic, so it's not very far.

The guy left saying it must be the weather and gave me his number to see when it clears up if it starts to work. Well here I am, still somewhat murky outside, but it hasn't rained in almost 2 hours.

Anyone seen anything like this before? I have hard boot the receivers, it never really comes up on it's own. It sticks at "acquiring satellite signal" and I have to go Menu > 1 to get the program guide to get to a channel that I know I can see on the particular receiver.

let me know anyone's expert thoughts. Could it possibly be the dp34 is underpowered? The tech hooked up his sat finder thingy and the lnb's and the after the switch is reading 100% on all 3 sats (110, 119, 129).

Looks like NO hd until this is resolved. Crap!

Dak32 is right. The installer should have installed a DPP33, not a DP34. You could actually install two DP34s to get the same job done, but then you would need two cables (one per tuner), or 6 cables total, coming down from the switches to your receivers. :p

Yes, they SHOULD have installed a DPP33 switch, seeing as you have six tuners on three receivers with three orbitals. Typical installer ignorance, especially if he kept the separators on your receivers and used only one SW34. Try to get someone there who knows what they're doing. Saying "it's the weather" is a phony excuse 99.5% of the time.

Thanks for the answers guys.

It looks like hifi is correct. The installer called me later tonight and told me he thinks he figured it out. The 34 switch needs the pro lnb, and I have the Plus.

Therefore, he said the cheapest route is to just install the 1000.2 dish. Hopefully he can fit me into his schedule tomorrow and I'll be back up.

I guess the Dish reps he kept calling and that I even talked to during the week didn't have logged in their system what my lnbs were. So they kept saying over and over how I didn't need a new dish, just a switch.

I knew it wasn't the weather. I just wish all installers knew what they were talking about. You rely on them and they know barely more than you do. Geesh!

Thanks for all the quick info fellas!
