I was just about to say that the SF HD locals might get less bitrate as a result, BUT you pointed out that they have reduced the number of error bits on the transponder to compensate.
So, they are using up 20% of the transponder for KRON, but they freed up 16.6% by using less error correction.
So, each existing channel will only lose less than 1%, but Dish uses statistical multiplexing, so you would only see any difference in the unlikely scenario when 2 or 3 of the channels have a lot of movement at the same time.
I lost the spotbeam for the hd locals in the morning yesterday for the first time in a long time. I had previously lots all the 40 sd channels in the 110/31 spotbeam about 2 months ago. I'm kind of on the fringe. I still manage to get the hd locals and in the daytime and the early evening, I just barely have them locked in now on the signal meter. Hope I don't lose them completely.
