To the experts out there. I live in a 3 family house I had a 8way multiswitch in the attic with 7 receivers (4 in the top floor, 1 in the middle and 2 in the basement). I just purchased 2 tivo receivers, now I need a bigger multiswitch.

Now, which would be better....

OR...

A spaun cascadable design like the one shown in this link...

Is there a difference in performance?

Any help would be appreciated. :)

Personally, all other things being equal, I'd choose a larger single multiswitch over two in a cascading setup. Just by virtue of simplicity.

Me too and it would be cheaper, but will I get signal loss in the basement televisions like I was getting with the 8way multiswitch?

You SHOULDN'T get appreciable signal loss with the existing multiswitch. But regardless, what's more important for satellite reception is signal quality, not necessarily strength. I would expect you'd have a cleaner signal going through one multiswitch than two.
