129 W/24" Dish in midwest

I know this subject get brough up a lot, but I couldn't find what I was looking for in a search.

With the new signal meter software it seems my signal strenght are much lower than they should be. Meaning instead of being about 30 points lower I have readings more like 40-50 points lower. Where I had 87 on tp 11 I'm now seeing 30's and 40's.

Can some of you give me your 129 ss on 2 or 3 tp's? I'm wondering if I need to repeak as I lose signal to inclement weather sooner than I used to.

I can give you my two highest one on 129 and I'm in California. These numbers are with a 1000.2.

TP 30 45-46
TP 19 48-50

I can't remember the exact readings for the other ones but most of them are in the mid 30s and some low 40s.

I'm getting 54 on TP30 and 61 on TP19 with the 30" dish (1000+).

Randall, what do you get on a couple of TPs on 110 and 119? Wondering if I'm over-peaked on 129, however I lose signal every time it rains for sometimes 90 mins.

with the L349 software the max reading here is 45; drops to 0 every 30-minutes or so, picture / signal loss for apx. 1-3 minutes.

Going to try a 30" Winegard here within the next month or so.

For the Pacific Northwest, the only way is to go bigger. A 24'' or 30'' dish should work better for you.

I'm getting 65 on 110 TP11 and 60 on 119 TP11 (sunny day today)

Often have issues with something on 129, but not at all exclusively. the 622/switch then gives me a bitch of a time tuning to something on 110 or 119 (i.e. HBO). but if i turn on my other 622 when i lose something on 129, the other 622 often can pick up the signal on 110/119 (as long as it didnt start out on a 129 channel when i turn the 622 on).

couldnt dish make switching btwn sats more independent of each other? seems odd that losing signal on 129 makes it difficult to get something on the other sats. sometimes these outages last so long (2hrs) that i cant even get the 622 to switch to OTA.

to be fair, this part of texas is known as flash flood alley, and it can rain buckets.

Nah, German package, which i've since cancelled. You think I get better or worse with the 1000+ than I'd get with the 1000.2?

Well from what I can see the 1000+ has very good signal levels. I would stay with the big dish, the question is why you lose the signal so much. Next time you lose signal, just make sure to note what channel you were watching.

Equator, IFC, MSNBC, Comedy Central, HBO, Max, Espn, Espn2, my locals on 110 TP 31...its all over the map. I guess it really has to do with the type of rain clouds we get here. Very, very dark ones. Kind of annoying cause my local retailer who did the install told me rain fade was pretty much a thing of the past. Also, no trees or other obstructions anywhere near the LOS. Also, E* has been out to tweak it, and said the signal is good. I often wonder though if the 1000+ LNBs might be worse than the 1000.2's.

Where is the dish located? Any chance to post pictures.

The reason I ask is that when I first got installed the dishes were placed on the chimney but too close to the roof so everytime it rained hard, the splashing on the roof killed the signal. I moved them up and the problem dissapeared.

hmm...interesting...I hadnt considered rain splashing off the roof...my dish is mounted onto the roof (overhang part - mostly).

I dont have any pics of it, but i'll snap some in the morning. thanks for thinking though the possibilities for me.

My high end was: TP 13 which ranged from 54-56
My low end was: TP 22 which ranged from 37-40

Everything else was in between these (when I just looked at them). Haven't noticed any drops in signal on the satellite other than during severe storms.
