If I remember correctly that was one of the very first non Big Four network stations they carried and it was the station that pushed hard for carriage.

Chances are they made an offer that DISH couldn't refuse. One might imagine it wouldn't sit well with the broadcast affiliates but since DISH typically doesn't carry their subchannels, I guess they can't be too upset.

I've long wondered the same thing about Ion.
 
GetTV is losing affiliates with Sinclair (their biggest affiliation) to their own Comet station and AntennaTV soon so this helps
Also GetTV doesnt have the usual agreement with affiliates like others do. Other subchannels have a deal with the affiliate to fill commercial time (they both get advertisements). getTV does ALL the commercials
 
The deal for GetTV had to be done for awhile, I get industry magazines such as Broadcasting and Cable, MultiChannel News etc and they have been advertising for a few weeks GetTV was coming soon to DISH.
