no not at all. You have a good point that if he has the correct LNB LO setup then the channels should log right properly.

The ANikF1 is making sense as Starchoice (Canadian DTH provider) uses 19510 as their symbol rate...DIsh uses 20000 so it probably tried to pick that up. If you did a blind scan that is moot but the numbers and pics make a lot of sence

Alright that explains a few things. And my mistake, I did an auto scan not blind scan if that makes a difference. One question though. I still don't get how symbol rate fits into all this. I thought as long as frequency and polarity were right, then anything can be picked up?

also that CS6000 must have some old hackerware in it because hackerware makes the Dish channels show the name as it does on Dish "Adult Guard, Dish Home, etc".....factory ware shows something like

"TVXXX" where XXX is the Dish channel, then the satellite and frequency...like what the radio channels show in the pics :)

I got the CoolSat from eBay. And while doing the first autoscan for all channels, I seen that it picked up all the good stuff like NatGeo, SciFi, Science, Discovery, etc. For a moment there I thought that thing was hacked to the bone. But then I realized that there was a good reason for having a card slot on the receiver. Actually I'm lying. After spending an hour looking for info on that card slot and a small expansion bay under it I found nothing to tell me what exactly it's used for.

no. In the old analog days there was no symbol rate. But with digital there is. And there are numerous rates out there so you'd use the blind scan in most cases. Auto scan only does the existing info. Blind scan finds the new stuff out there. Usually if the symbol rate is off by a few it wont work...but 490 off? damn...DBS channels probably picks up anytime the symbol rate is in the ballpark

card slot is usually blank on those. Most receivers on Ebay had modiifed software loaded into it to steal services. But Dish clamped down on that so its a moot point. I would load factory software on it.

Alright, thanks for the info. I'll try the settings USDownlink suggested when I get home. Appreciate the help, gentlemen.

OK Lachesis, now I comprehend (with my very limited mentality) what is going on thanks to your posts and pictures. I suggest you download the EKB Dish Net (Unofficial) Channel Chart, a large document that shows all the Dish channels with transponder numbers, various Dish sats, etc. One key column in that list is the Channel Number. For example, the radio channel you picked up as 6012 is Sirius The Pulse Channel- 80s and 90s hits. You will also find that, as Iceberg noted, many "radio" channels are HD tv channels, some are the Dish "how-to use your remote" type channels, etc. I also recommend you follow USDOWNLINK's advice for receiver settings. Good luck. I may try moving my 76 cm dish to 74 W, then switch my 10750 linear lnb to a 11250 circular, then move dish slightly to 72.7 and see which radio channels I can get here in WV. The "easy listening" ones sound good to me!
