* audio KHSL-TV: 102-year-old golfer Elsie McLean says she was shocked by the ace

CHICO, Calif. --
Elsie McLean thought she might have lost her ball on the par-3, 100-yard fourth hole at Bidwell Park. Instead, the 102-year-old Chico woman became the oldest golfer ever to make a hole-in-one on a regulation course.

Because of the slope of the green, McLean and her partners couldn't see where her ball landed after she teed off.

"Where's my ball?" McLean asked.

Her friends, Elizabeth Rake and Kathy Crowder, found it in the cup.

"I said, 'Oh, my Lord. It can't be true. It can't be true.' I was so excited. And the girls were absolutely overcome," McLean said.

It was McLean's first ace.

"Well everybody wants a hole-in-one, and I said, 'Why can't I have a hole-in-one?' I came within inches once," McLean told television station KNVN.

McLean, who used a driver, broke the age record of 101 set by Harold Stilson in 2001 at Deerfield Country Club in Florida.

McLean, who has been featured in golf magazines before, will appear on "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno" on April 24 to celebrate her accomplishment.

"For an old lady," she said, "I still hit the ball pretty good."

I saw this mentioned on SportsCenter this morning. I hope I don't have to wait until that age to get my first.

I had one, but it won't count. Bull***ing on a course in Rochester, NY...I had a hole-in-one with a wooden baseball bat on a par-3 220 yard hole. I knew I had hit it high and right at the flag...but I was almost positive I hit it over the green(I was pissed that I was having a terrible round and the 10th hole was right next to the parking lot and right next to my car....). My other buddies went ahead and teed off and I took a triple bogey for the hole(I said I was "taking the hole off). To this day, they always bring it up...I don't because to me, it does not count...sad really, I would love to have a hole-in-one too....LOL

The hole-in-one isn't as impressive as still playing golf at 102! At that age , she probabily doesn't have the eyesight to see the ball go in on an unobstructed green. Go, granny, go!

Come to think about it, playing at 102 is 100 times more impressive than a hole-in-one! ANYONE can get a how in one, you can probably count on one hand how many people are ALIVE at 102 much less playing golf!

There's hope. Maybe by the time I'm 102 I'll be able to play a decent round of golf. Or just one hole. :D
