Don, this battery is certainly not something I walk around with in my pocket; but to keep it in my roller-carry-on, or even my Timbuktu laptop bag, its not a huge amount of weight for the times when I think I'll need it. On a daily basis at home, it stays at home though.
My question was more of how do they know if it is JB since it is your phone? In other words, you company sets up your phone for you? You have to give them access? Here at my work we set up our own personal phones, PCs, and Tablets ourselves.
As far as remnants go, will this be the same for JB and for rooting? I have yet to hear of a single example of someone restoring their JB iDevice and APPLE knowing it was JB.
But he is talking about specific corporate software that detects it. (At least on Android).
I recently had my jailbroken iPhone 4s replaced due to water damage, thank god that the phone they pulled out of the back room was BNIB with iOS 5.0. Will jailbreak when I get home
i would not have an i device that is not jailbroken. apple has way too many restrictions.

I don't believe you. Apple won't help you if your device is jailbroken. You also blew the warranty by jailbreaking.

The software that is needed allows them to detect if you are jail broken or rooted. They don't touch your phone or tablet but the policy they select states that it will deny access to any jail broken or rooted phones.
You have to use Mobile Iron in order to get your mail and then we use the Cisco Anyconnect software if you need VPN access. Within the Mobile Iron configuration they have an option to allow or deny jail broken or rooted devices.

How would they know it was JB if it had water damage and wouldnt come on? Unless he told them, they would assume it was stock.
Sprint will be more likely to replace the phone for free since they are more desperate to keep customers. When I was looking at switching from ATT to Sprint, Sprint was practically begging me to come over and offering me so many incentives and discounts.
Jailbroken phones do not look any different. If the phone will not turn on they will not know it is jailbroken. Even if it can it be turned on there are usually ways to undo the jailbreak. I have receivved service work on a phone that was jailbroken.
this is one of those topics that is unlikely to go anywhere. there are Apple partisans who are horrified at the notion that someone would dare to make the phone operate operate in a manner that is different from what Apple intended. there are others tht think the phone is theirs and delight in tinkering with it.
I doubt that any minds will be changed and frankly while I like my jailbroken IOS products it does not bother me that others prefer to stay in the Apple approved universe.

Like he said the Apple detractors are probably less numerous than the folks that like Apple but just want to use the product in a way that the original OS does not allow. hey are not trying to stick it to Apple or anyone else.
My wife who would never let me JB her phone sure takes advantage of my JB devices.
During FOX Saturday baseball games, FOX pays MLB to not allow any other game to be shown nationally or in any sports package during their broadcast time. Even though there are several games going on during that time you can only watch the one game FOX places in your DMA. Even though you may pay for an out of market sports package, they block your ability to watch other games live during that time if you live in the USA.
Since I JB my devices I installed something called locationspoofer and I set it to think I am currently in Mexico. Now I am able to watch any game during this time on my out of market package that I am paying for. Currently, locally we can only watch the Angels and Royals. My wife is a Giants fan and one of the reasons we got the out of market package is so she can watch Giants games. The only day in which she can watch the games in their entirety is Saturdays (the only time they will likely be blacked out here). She is currently using my JB iPad to watch her Giants play the D-Backs as I am typing.
Yes, a Dodgers fan married a Giants fan.
