Here is an update on the 8 HD test channels.
They are being streamed now, but seem to be slates?
One is 4 Mbps and the other seven are 3 Mbps, but the bit rate does not change.
Still QPSK 5/6 20000.
Wichita doesn't have a beam on 129 that covers the entire DMA. E-14 that has not launched yet does though. They could put them on 72/77 at a later time if they number of subs is right to take up precious CONUS space.
95% of the DMA population is covered by spotbeam 29. My local cable company has stepped up and now offering DVR and HD. It's going to be difficult to wait too much longer for Dish. Direc started offering Wichita HD some time ago. Dish is now the only game in town that DOES NOT have these. I am 80 miles and 300ft in elevation different so OTA is not worth the effort.....
