just brainstorming...
I would go for a serviceable and removable solution, not a permanent one which could never again be removed.
From the PDF docs, it looks like "item 6" is a hex head, coarse pitch bolt, designed to cut threads directly into the molded plastic/fiberglass of the dish.
I would have expected something a little more sophisticated for such a professional dish.
Here are some ideas I had, and maybe others could comment:
- drill out and press in a suitable threaded brass insert
- drill out and screw in a
helicoil .
- press just enough soft metal into the too-large hole (lead fishing sinkers / large diameter solder) and reinstall the old screw
- visit hardware store and look for expanding picture hangers - there are many designs; maybe one would work
- fill the hole with epoxy or hot melt glue (?), redrill and reinstall the old screw
But you know, I really like this one a whole lot!
I would drill the holes through to the face of the dish and install carriage bolts.
Carriage bolts have a square shaft just under the head.
You might use a small needle-file from the front of the dish to square up the hole.
