1/11 Retailer Chat Recap

Ok here are the rules for upgrading under the Dish'n it up program.

Limit 1 HD Receiver Per Transaction
Limit 1 upgrade per 12 month period
Limit 2 tuners per transaction.

Lucky,

I just read in the chat that you maybe ok. It is two tuners and not one receiver. So you will be ok. The ones that are F*** are the ones with a DVR plus other HD receivers.

942 uprade in 2006
Two 6000s upgrade in 2007 (if it is two tuners)

So I'll be done with all my HD upgrades by 2007

Only if they come out with a two tuner, two HDTV output receiver by 2007 :)

We now go to Question Time. (Which means the chat is done) however sometimes a good question is asked.

First question asked is the new DVR fee only for new customers or all customers, Jim says all customers who are being charged a DVR fee the rate will be going up, on the receivers with no DVR fee there will continue to be no DVR fee.

Ok more from the stupidity department.

You are only allowed to upgrade 1 receiver to MPEG4 under the Dish'n It Up program.

If a customer needs more then 1 receiver upgraded they need to BUY the second unit.

Dish will loose a lot subs over this. I have two leased HD receivers (811 and 942), what are my options? This is all bulls.... I am getting tired of being threated as a second class sub, I am an E* sub since 97 and pay a lot of money every month (AEP; HD+Voom; Locals; Superstations; RAIinternational) and I am getting this in return? I am startin to look into COmcast HD packages and what they offer. Bye Bye Charlie....

No.

I do not know what the heck this means.

Limit 1 HD Receiver Per Transaction
Limit 1 upgrade per 12 month period
Limit 2 tuners per transaction.

Good question, if a customer subscribes to HD locals will they still get the SD locals as well, the answer is YES they will get whatever locals are available to them. In fact if the customer has a mpeg4 receiver and HD locals are in their area they willl get them automatically and for no extra charge.

It looks like it is what it says- 1 HD Receiver and probably in a 12 month period. This was probably done so they can try and get at least one receiver out to whoever wants one first. Logic says that they are NOT going to meet the demand for a long time on receivers. Gerry

Just got hosed by DISH!!! Sorta...
