Is the jump to 4K worth it? The Blu-rays were remarkable, but will these films benefit enough from HDR and a bit more color? Yes, they will look better, but better enough?

For the video quality, depends on if it is a native/newer transfer, HDR/DV, how good your TV is, along with the size and the distance you sit from it .

I have a 98", about 7 feet away in the theater room.

But where it can really shine, the sound quality, if a newer Dolby Atmos sound track, it is so much better than streaming.

I have a Anthem AVM 70 Processor, running into 3 Amplifiers, 9 Channels/Speakers, 200 Watts each, more impressed by the sound sometimes, instead of the picture.

Since the older masters would be stereo at best, would that be where AI might be able to properly synthesize height information for Dolby Atmos?

They just go back to the original masters, create a new Atmos soundtrack from the original stereo track.

There have been a lot of Atmos soundtracks created before AI started.

for example, I do not know if some type of AI was used for the original Terminator movie to create the Atmos soundtrack, since it originally was 2.0 Mono, but it does sounds incredible.

Stereo sound wasn't featured in Bond films until some point in the Roger Moore era.
Again, if they can turn The Terminator's mono soundtrack into Atmos, they should not have any issues with the older Bond movies.

You seemed to be asserting that if you've heard one mono track film, you've heard them all.
No, it is obvious I am saying, there is no reason why they cannot make a good/great Atmos soundtrack from the original tracks.

Again, we're talking about a single track; not "tracks" as you are trying to rewrite reality.

How realistic is this synthesized atmos track likely to be?

How much is it likely to cost to produce such a realistic Atmos environment and would that carry enough appeal to get people to buy yet another copy of the movies? Broccocli Bond movies always had a certain level of camp and I'm not sure that throwing in modern audio and video technology is going to enhance the appeal.

Finally, since you're so all in on numbers, how many buyers would be able to realize the benefits of a proper Atmos encoding given the popularity of sound bars and other sub 5.2.1 sound systems. Home theaters aren't decidedly on the rise in this day and age and the upcoming generation of consumers seem to have little interest in such things in favor of handheld devices in combination with the same wireless earbuds they use to stream Apple Music or Spotify.

Why are you trying to criticize something that has not even been released yet, go ahead and purchase, if it sounds awful, post about it.

But to keep attacking something that you have not even listened to, says more about you than the potential Atmos soundtrack.

By the way, they have already released these on Blu-Ray, in a lossless 5.1 DTS-Master Audio soundtrack.

From Russia with Love-

Much like the other classic Bond releases from MGM, From Russia With Love has been given a spruced-up surround sound mix in lossless 5.1 DTS-Master Audio. It's an involving track with plenty of surround activity and excellent use of rear directional effects.

All of them have been reviewed at

Now you are attacking why they even putting a Atmos soundtrack on the discs, because sound bars are out in the world?

I personally and I would assume others, are quite happy they are doing so, I have a real Home Theater, I find sound bars absolutely terrible.

This goes to the appeal that such efforts would ultimately have.

It isn't all about what I (or you think). The question is what the market thinks as a whole and whether or not that's worth it.

Buying a disc to play in a player that many don't have just to hear some sounds occasionally coming from a surround, rear or height speaker seems like trying to put lipstick on a pig.
