Then I would assume the FTA receiver uses a "generic" software? There are no hookups for motorizing on the FTA receivers I've been looking at, but the software in these FTA's has screens for inputting the info.

You guys are all very helpful. I just did a search on the 3500 and it brought me to a part of a forum here, and from what I read, you still need to attach some sort of decoder to the 3500 in order to hear AC3 audio? It would seem there should be a reciever that would be "complete".

I really am appreciating everyones input, but to change the v-h for the FTA, wouldn't I just have to switch from, say, transponder 1 to 2 to change the polarities for channels on the FTA? Seems like this would only have to be done once to find the channel you wish to view.

I really don't know if I need the "frills" of a more top of the line receiver. I also plan to leave my 4dtv receiver hooked up and don't really need a FTA with built in positioner. I still wonder if this type of receiver/positioner might present problems for me, being used as a slave?

Thanks again, tvropro, I did a quick check & see the 2700(a) can be had for about $128 delivered. It looks like it has a built in positioner. I'm assuming I wouldn't have any problems slaving it off my 4dtv reciever, and the 4dtv being the one positioning the dish?

What do you mean by needing switches? From the diagrams I saw that Skyvision provides, it looks like all I have to do is add 2 sets of RCA cables to jump it into and out of my 4DTV receiver & should be good to go.
