    Dear Abby

Dear Bs: Have her register at Sadoun. I wonder what kind of dishes she'll choose? [That was bad.] Better yet, see if you can have the "reception" there. [OK, that was really bad. :o ] Abby

    Sadoun Christmas Giveaway

Dear Sadoun Claus, I've been a good boy all year (except for visiting that one site. OK, maybe two). I really want another FTA system. I promise to take good care of it and feed it and walk it and I'll do all my homework and won't hit my sister any more. Please can I have it? Merry Christmas!

Sound Quality of DishNetwork Music Channels

I just looked on my ViP211 and it doesn't say in the guide or on the info screen. The channel names do differentiate: mono stations are AUD01-19 (923-946) while stereo stations are CD 1-32 (950-981). Here's a new post about the stations. http://www.satelliteguys.us/showthread.php?t=81571

So how many hams view this forum??

Oh, sorry about that. You might be able to get an exemption. That website is still very useful to prepare for the written. As for the call sign, there's too much info on the internet and I wouldn't put my address here, so... 73, Greg

What FTA Channel is your Favorite?

I agree. Or maybe favorite satellite? Mine is IA-5, particularly the Chinese channels.

So how many hams view this forum??

I'm also a ham, but I'm too paranoid to post my call sign. I'd recommend learning the 5WPM to get your general. It's really not that hard, and you'll be more proud of earning your license. A great site is: http://www.aa9pw.com/radio/

Playing audio only through a Dish box

For the additional receiver. That's why others were suggesting the dual TV mode, but running audio cables could be a problem. For a simple display, you could use a DVD player. Most have AV inputs. One other point is E* has music channels in addition to Sirius. I think D* only has XM.

ENTER HERE: Win a C Band Dish & LNB from SatelliteAV!(Contest Over)

[Wife was in kitchen busy making dinner.] "Hey, Chief, I found a great way to block the sun into the kitchen." "How" "We can put an 8' dish in the back. And it's free if we win the contest!" "Really?" Then she got distracted. I take that as an approval.

    Need US satellite details...

The manual on Fortec's website says the FLU sets PAL/NTSC automatically or you can select. [It also shows the SCART connector (US substitutes S-Video).] I highly recommend reading the manual, even for a clone receiver. I learned from experience. :D...

Reporting in... Happy move from D* to E*

http://www.dbstalk.com/showthread.php?t=64185 I switched 4 months ago and am still happy with it. Even though D* finally released 6.3 (for the HR10), there have been problems with it. I would add a laptop cooler to keep the temperature down. The only other negative with the 622 is the hard...

Help with Fortec Star Lifetime Ultra

:o OK, time to eat humble pie. I was hooking the dish to the antenna input. After looking at the manual again, I realized I should be using the IF input and the antenna input is for OTA. :o :o :o Amazing I ever got the Coolsat set up in the first place.:D Thanks for the assistance. I'll be...

Help with Fortec Star Lifetime Ultra

It looks like the Fortec has problems. :( I just tried those settings and it's still 20-30% level, 0% quality. If I unplug the antenna I get the same readings. I also put the Digisat in and the Fortec won't power it up. The Coolsat powers it up fine. I measured the output with a DMM and the...

Help with Fortec Star Lifetime Ultra

Thanks, guys, for the info--much appreciated. I did find the user's manual as well as a service manual (w/ schematics even) yesterday. It looks like I have everything set correctly. I did turn off receivers when switching the antenna, but the switch is a Coolsat and those are supposedly not...

Help with Fortec Star Lifetime Ultra

Cabling goes: Invacom LNB L1 & C1 -> DiSEqC switch inputs 1 & 2 (3 & 4 not connected) DiSEqC switch output -> SG2100 motor LNB port SG2100 motor receiver port -> Coolsat/Fortec receiver antenna input The switch allows linear and circular signals on the same cable (I'm guessing, haven't...

Help with Fortec Star Lifetime Ultra

I just bought a Fortec Lifetime Ultra receiver. I have a Coolsat 6000 which is working well and figured I might as well get another receiver since my LNB has the outputs available, and people say Fortecs might find channels the Coolsat misses. I now know I should have bought a Classic--I thought...

    $5 TV Set

I could use a Pocket PC streaming through the Slingbox but the lag would be bad. I use a portable 7" DVD player. A lot of them have AV inputs.

    PocketDish:Long Term Report?

I've only had E* and the AV402E for 3 months, so I'm not really long term, but I like it a lot. With the rebate (received within a few weeks), it was about $120 including shipping and tax. Well worth it, and almost enough to make me happy I switched from D* [HD was the main reason]. I've...
