    Directv or Verizon FIOS

I live in a FIOS cmmunity and have blazing FIOS internet. For TV/HDTV I'm sticking with D*. My reason - NFL Sunday Ticket and the FOX Sports Channel packages. If it wasn't for that I'd switch to FIOS TV, if for no other reason just for the convenience of one provider and one bill. Some of my...

anybody itchy to switch to E*??

Stick with D*. I used to have both E* and D* but recently dropped E* and bought 4 H20's and an MPEG4 setup. I had the E* 942 which is a great receiver. But, even though there's no MPEG4 DVR unit for D* as of yet, I'm happy with the switch. I've got HD locals, I'm crazy about Sunday Ticket...

help...any 5lnb installers ...please answear questions

What you're saying makes sense. The Mastec installer who put my A3 (AT9) dish up had never seen the videos and had no means of following the detailed install procedure. He adjusted for peak signal on 101 and called it a day. The picture quality looked good but I still complained because I...

Question about H20/MPEG4 audio sync problem

I'm seeing audio sync issues on numerous HD channels, including ESPN. This problem goes beyond the HD locals, and has nothing to do with resolution settings. I've got four H-20's running. Two output to 1080i HDTV's, one to a 720p HDTV, and one to a traditional 480p TV. I've got the same...

    Quanity vs Quality

I'm for more HD channels at obtainable resolutions . . . 720p or 1080i. It makes zero sense to insist that sat/cable providers provide 1080x1920 transmissions when ALMOST NO ONE is currently even planning to produce television material in 1080p. OK, HDN is talking about it, but none of the...

What will you do if D* doesn't announce new national HD channels today???

I think D* is headed in the right direction so I'll stick it out. Also, I'm hooked on NFL Sunday Ticket so wouldn't switch unless another provider offered it - which isn't in the cards anytime soon. I had both E* and D* until a couple of months ago. I was with E* for 8 years when I made the...

    Up and running in Dallas

They may be planned for addition after the national rollout of ABC/CBS/NBC/FOX is complete. I get the same thing, "A3 3" on thos channels. But, D* issued a press release that was published in the DMN that clearly said nothing other than ABC/CBS/NBC/FOX until a later date.

    Up and running in Dallas

The only HD locals available via satellite right now are 4, 5 and 11. D* is still negotiating with ABC - channel 8. Based on what I read in the Dallas Morning News a week or so ago, other HD local channels will be added only after the full national HD local rollout.

    H20 Acquring Guide message

I'm with you. It's not a filter, but a Ka Lo band upconverter, designed for use with the AT9. I had three H20's running with a Phase III dish and the B Band Converter Module did not work at all with the Phase III dish and H20. At least it didn't work at all for me - no signal, no nothing...

Native Mode.. Bad for the TV?

I've got H20's on two DLP's and both get better PQ when I don't use native resolution. I force maximum resolution, 720p on one and 1080i on the other, and think the PQ is definitely best on my DLP's that way.

    H20 5lnb Mpeg4 upgrade questions

How much you're charged may depend which CSA you get, or on how much you rag on whichever CSA you happen to get. When I called the first time, I was told the conversion was $99. When I said I had heard some people were getting the upgrade for free, I was put on hold for a while. The CSA...

    Up and running in Dallas

I'm also in the DFW area. My Ka/Ku dish was installed this morning and I also see some artifacts on CBS 11. I'd have to say that the installation was sort of a joke, at least as compared to the DirecTV ka/ku dish install training videos. I'm quite certain that I had done significantly more...

    Dallas LiL.. No ABC?

There was an article in the DallasMorningNews today (Local Briefs, Section D, Page 12) that said DirecTV is still in negotiations with WFAA-TV, Channel 8. The expectation is that this will be worked out soon. I did call and place a dish/receiver upgrade order and I'm scheduled for install next...
