    Peaked 1000.4 through tree

Thanks for the responses and pictures/illustrations. Unfortunately I have had this set up about a year. I'm hoping the tree is so old that it won't get any taller. I was just curious as to how it worked. I was practicing my skills at pointing a similar dish for when I go camping and I realized...

    Peaked 1000.4 through tree

So is it true that the dish points slightly under the sat and the reflector bounces the signal back to the lnb? It sure looks like its pointed directly into the tree.

    Peaked 1000.4 through tree

Check out this pic of my sat. I can't believe the installer got it peaked through a 100 year old oak tree. I wonder how this actually works? Remarkable if you ask me...

Comparing Skew (www.DishPointer.com VS Dish Network Instructions)

Thanks mrtg3336rz! You are right. I was not using the correct lookup. Earlier this morning I realized that I had been using the "All Satellite" option instead of the "Multi-LNB" option. Once I had that problem fixed I selected the 110W 119W 129W option. I didn't even see the options with the...

Comparing Skew (www.DishPointer.com VS Dish Network Instructions)

I have a question which is probably easily explained. When comparing pointing angles on www.dishpointer.com and the dish network installation instructions for Bauxite AR I see that azimuth and elevation are both extremely close (a degree off, this is OK), but when I compare skew, dishpointer.com...

    Need Sat meter for 1000.4

Back to the original post, I figured out my problem. Bad coax between the satellite finder and sat. I connected the new cable and instead of my meter going off, it stayed on. I picked up 119 in about 30 seconds. I guess the bad cable caused my meter to go off. Thanks to everyone that responded!!!

    Need Sat meter for 1000.4

rvvaquero, thanks for the hookup directions. I did read the installation instructions and I'll try that tomorrow. I think Austin G is talking about alternative power coming from the more expensive sat meters with built in batteries. I have also read about the 1000.x lnb's consuming more power...

    Need Sat meter for 1000.4

Hey rvvaquero, one thing that is puzzling me with my cheap-o meter is that I start with it plugged to the receiver (power is on, light, and beep is on), then when I plug it to the sat dish it goes dead (power off...nothing). If I unplug it from the sat, it comes back on. I wonder what this is an...

    Need Sat meter for 1000.4

Thanks guys for your responses. Are there any advantages to the Acutrac III vs the FirstStrike FS1? They are both in the same price range. Will either of them see muliple sats at once or do I have to dial them in individually?

    Need Sat meter for 1000.4

Do you know if I can use a Accutrac III+ or a FirstStrike FS1 for a dish 1000.2/1000.4?

    Need Sat meter for 1000.4

Here is a pic of my dish. I believe it's a 1000.4 WA, right?

    Need Sat meter for 1000.4

I recently acquired a 1000.4 WA Dish that I want to use when I go camping. I'm not sure if it works. I have a cheap-o sat finder (CaptiveWorks CW-95). I start with the sat finder connected to the receiver (722K) so its powered on. Then when I hook it to the dish, it goes off. I wonder if the...

    Dish 500 with 722 receiver-No TV2 input

Ok, much thanks for the info. I think I will just use what I have for now and for the future think about getting an HD dish similar to what is used on my house. That way I will have HD channels and won't have to run check switch everytime I move the receiver.

    Dish 500 with 722 receiver-No TV2 input

Thank you for the response. I do believe it's DishPro Twin but I'll have to check when I get home tonight. If it's a DishPro Twin is there any way to combine the signals and seperate them before it get's to the receiver? The reason I ask is because I only have one cable input on my travel...

    Dish 500 with 722 receiver-No TV2 input

Hello, I am new to the site and new to satellite installations. I've read several posts and can't quite figure out my problem. I recently bought a travel trailer and wanted to take my receiver (722) with me to watch satellite TV. So as you know my house has the HD dish and receiver. Due to the...
