My ISP shows my location all over the country. If I want to see local content, I have to use the VPN. With Roku I just put up with the inconvenience. With this Fire Stick I can "move" to wherever I want.

Got the 4K Firestick today. What a sh!tty UI. Slow, buggy, just as I expected. Some of the apps look archaic compared to their Roku counterparts. However, I can use my Surfshark VPN with it, so I suppose I'll keep it as a supplement to my Roku.

iOS 18, what did you think?

On 18.1 now, RCS stopped working (again) about a week ago. Back to plain old SMS/MMS between my iPhone and Android phones.

Update: FCC wants unlocked phone rules to change, but AT&T and T-Mobile have other ideas

I just realized I should have added this to the previous thread on this topic.. moderators feel free to merge I think this paragraph from the article is key: "At the end of the day, two-year contracts and "subsidized" smartphones hide the true costs of the devices in people's pockets. Unbinding...

Thank you, I did not know this. Just picked up the 4K model for $21.99, more for experimentation with my VPN than anything.

This is why I no longer use Firesticks. The fact that they're built on Android makes them even worse IMO. Slow, clunky, poor app design. To each their own, but I just find Roku and their OS to be beautifully organized, functional, almost flawless.

I have my Roku set to pasthrough audio to my AVR. Other shows on P+ have DD 5.1, but the KC @ BUF game shows only stereo. I switched it over to my local OTA feed on KCTV and it works perfectly. I was hoping to compare both side-by-side, but today P+ fails compared to OTA.
