What channels are you referencing: just ABC, CBS, & Fox; or are there other big name networks found using FTA? For instance, my household would be happy with receiving NBC, Comedy Central, GSN, MTV, Nickelodeon, ABC Family, ABC, CBS, Food Network, A&E, Travel, and TBS.

I checked on my Dish channel guide, and, basing on the channel's programming content, the WTRF descriptions should read as follows: 5291 WTRF (7) Wheeling, WV - CBS, 7 6790 WTRF3 (10) Wheeling, WV - ABC, 10 6793 WTRF2 (32) Wheeling, WV - FOX, 32

The three WTRF channels are confusing to many people. As I mentioned earlier, WTRF runs 3 of the big 4 networks: CBS, ABC, & Fox. They use the same news staff for all three networks; for the longest time, this area did not have ABC or Fox -- until about 6 years ago.

Got it now. I guess I am reading too much into the need of the map and each channel's spotbeam location -- i.e. for tweaking purposes/expanding local channel options.

The "foil tactic" now has my curiosity. What purpose does it serve? It sounds as if it bypasses the Dish system defaults and uses the secondary channel locations instead. I highly doubt that my idea that the foil permits every channel in the spotbeam [30 in my case] as available for viewing.

This type of reply is what I was expecting at the onset. Although I am now wondering where to put the foil, lol. In all seriousness, it sounds like there is nothing the customer can do to tweak the Dish; only Dish can change/"move" a customer on their system. Is this an accurate conclusion?

I understood all that before starting this thread. I read CONUS and spotbeam as options that the consumer could use as a workaround, similar to the old-school "lowering/raising of the OTA antennas or positioning it in a different direction".
