    DVR 80 with cable system?

I've got my old DVR 80 on eBay and someone asked a question....can he use the DVR with his cable system as well as DTV? I got rid of cable in favor of DTV so never entertained the idea. So, if his cable company has those cable cards that serve 2 tuners on one card...will it work? Thank you

Groan. I was told by D* that the HD dish connects up to the 2 pairs of wires going to the existing dish and that it is a special, manufacturer specific, HD switch that is used to distribute the signal throughout.. I hope that this info is correct as this is a vacation home that I use one of my...

So, let me make sure that I understand this correctly.... I cannot use just the 2 existing lines from the dish to feed the switch which will then feed 2 rooms with a pair of coax each. You're saying that I must run 2 additional lines from the dish to the switch to be able to use the...

I see. Still have a question.... I have 2 lines running down from my existing dish going into a switch which then feeds two rooms with a pair of coax to each. Does the built in switch need 2 more lines? If so, I'll get a new switch. Thank you for your help.

Ready to buy HD DVR, got a question.

Actually, D themselves want to charge an HD Access and an HD service charge that totals 15.98. The re-sellers do not charge this. As far as the units themselves..... It's not just "how cheap a price can i get" I'll elaborate. Are there units available from merchants that i might find here...

Ready to buy HD DVR, got a question.

I have called a few companies that re-sell DTV and gotten very similar numbers for equipment. Namely, 199.00 for the first HD DVR and 299.00 for the second. These all have 200 hour (SD) HDD. Can I get more bang for the buck if i just let the DTV reseller supply me with the "free" SD receivers...
