I am not a Directv customer but my mother is so I am asking in her on her behalf. She currently has 3 DVRs but I am not sure of what package yet. I know one DVR does not get used so she can downgrade that box but I am more interested in knowing what is the cheapest package she can get. I know...
Instead of starting a new post I thought I would use this one since is dealing with disconnecting. I read that Directv removed G4TV and was wonder since they had done that would this open a loophole to get out paying ETFs?(because directv had this channel is one of the reasons I decided to go...
I think the DVR was free but paid like 99 for second DVR and 99 for 4 more boxes if I remember right. Putting the cable company aside I would be out 500 bucks or does D* reimburse?
Just installed services this July, yes I know JUST installed. I have started employment with a cable company (don't hit me) and will be getting services disconnected/free from them. Understandably I do not need to be paying for services from D*. What if any charges will I be looking at to...
Thanks for the info. I am aware of limitations. Because of that I have 2 DVRs and 4 HD boxes currently in use. I am moving 2 boxes from one location in the house to another location. I am not adding any more boxes.
Sorry, did search on splitter and a lot of confusing threads as a lot of them had non SWM questions as well. Setup is SWM and Multi-room. Moving 2 boxes from upstairs to basement (building rooms). When house was constructed, only one coax line ran to basement. From the SWM splitter to the run...
Just an update. After swapping box locations, which should make no difference, everything is working perfect! Don't know why but it is. No tech visit. Wish I knew why this made a difference but I am not going to question a good thing.
Called D*and after waiting 10 minutes, rep disco call on transfer to tech support, called back, on hold 10 minutes again then getting to tech support.... They told me the important part of the code was the 79. He stated he stated it means the box is having intermitent connection to the...
Same error message on same one with a brand new coax line. Shorter run even as not going through walls. Even through walls this is the shortest run to begin with.
Had a chance to make a brand new coax line with compression fittings and ran direct from SWM splitter to box that is getting errors, same issue. I reset box, restored defaults, then re-ran setup. Same thing.
Okay. Right after posting that I turned on the DVR that is NOT getting the error message. Of course it i not seeing the DVR that I think has the issue.. oh wait... there is one and only one show in the list from the other box. I selected it but did not play it. I stepped back to the list...
Poke, I have tried resetting with red button many times.
The install tech connected this way...
From the dish down to the in on the SWM splitter. One of the outs on the splitter goes to the SWM power adapter then on to a box. The one labeled "power to SWM" is the end connected to splitter...
While waiting I replaced the end of the coax on the backside of the wall plate for the box that seems to be having the issue. That may not be the cause of the issue but I prefer the compression fittings over the crimp on ones the electrician used when the house was built. You would think new...
Alright Poke, just now did that. It seems this may be narrowed down to one box now. Odd as how multi-room worked before. After running multi-room setup I ran test and came back with error...
Is there something else I might be able to do or should I call them again?
Tech came this morning and connected the broadband DECA just as pic showed. Ran into a problem where one DVR could see the other but not the other way around. both boxes did get IP address and VOD working on both. After he called into his support they had us unplug power from every box...
Thanks for the pic armchair. Now that I know exactly how it is going to connect I am able to pre-configure my On-Q to make it much easier for the tech. The SWM splitter, an ethernet port, and an electrical outlet all inside the On-Q box. They are supposed to be here tomorrow.
Now I am worried nothing will get achieved on the visit. Rep on phone was stating the 24 series has compatibility issues with the broadband DECA and it should not be used. They claimed it is built into the 24.
Don't even get me started on the internet issue. ATT was supposed to...
Okay, I made the call. I have (2) 24 series DVRs. They advised me that I only need to connect one of these boxes to an ethernet, which I can, and that the other 5 boxes (1 DVR and 4 non DVRs) should still be able to pull up the playlist as well as the other non ethernet connected DVR shold be...
Thanks for the info. Fortunately the house was built with an On-Q box where all coax, broadband, and phone lines come to one central point. At that location is where my modem, router, switch, and home server are at so it should make it easy to do.
Let me break it down to the first issue. If I connect 1 DVR box to my network and it grabs an IP address, the other boxes then lose the ability to see programs on that 1 DVR. Is this normal?
Sorry if the first post was confusing. I know I was rambling. I was trying to hurry with my post...
