What are you talking about? "could possibly"
From that list we could possibly get a few of them by the year end or sooner...
I am still waiting for Crime and Investigation HD. I don't know what the hold up is. We have the SD version. I won't watch that. I want the HD version.
Me too. :up
The top two on my FiOS HD wish list are CI and Investigation Discovery (channel 123 on FiOS SD).
In terms of the rate at which they've been adding channels... I guess I'm at a loss at the comments about not having alot of confidence in their ability/desire to do that. What did they go through just 9 months ago? Between late summer 2008 and now they went from 30 HD channels in my market to 109 (I think that's the current count). Is that the 'track record' you're referring to?
I won't disagree, but the Tivo HD does a pretty good job (2nd to Dish Network's HD DVR), Verizon's bundled services (value and reliability) can't be touched by E*/D*, and the amazing picture quality of FiOS TV pretty much blows the satellites out-of-the-sky.I admired FIOS until about 2007 when the satellite companies started passing them by in HD. YEs, they added a bunch last summer-fall. If they hadn't, I had made my mind up not to subscribe to hem when they came to my neighborhood.
But they did, so I subscribed in Nov 2008, as soon as they went live in my neighborhood. From the perspective of a Nov 2008 subscriber, they haven't added much and "coming soon" seems to be a theme.
I am saying that FIOS needs to stay on top of everybody else with the HD channels. If they don't, NOTHING is special about them. The ONLY thing in my opinion that sets them ahead of the rest is the HD channel lineup. CS sucks. The DVRs suck. The architecture of the On Demand and guide depending on the Actiontec modem and the dipping into your Internet bandwidth sucks. It is the channels baby. The HD channels.
DirecTV and Dish both have way better DVRs. If either one of them had ALL the HD channels FIOS has, I'd ditch FIOS. The cable and sat companies will catch up to FIOS eventually. And then what?
You are right about the Viacom channels. I also subscribe to DirecTV (contract before FIOS) and the Viacom channels don't show much. I'd like to see the Comcast and Rainbow channels. AMC HD is my to choice for Breaking Bad.
Really, other than HD channels, what sets FIOS ahead of anybody else other than possible faster Internet than you can get from competitors?

- D* HD picture quality isn't bad, but I have been hearing more complaints lately.
- E* stopped offering HD back in October 2005, but they have plenty of HD-Lite for customers who don't care about quality.
Still, I would still like to see Verizon add more "high quality" HD channels to the channel lineup and expand their lead in the number of HD channels they currently offer. There are currently 110 HD channels in my FiOS TV lineup and I would like to see more added soon.
One other thing - one thing you said wasn't quite right. That VOD eats into your internet speed. In a vast majority of cases, it doesn't. Your ONT can go up to 50Mbps (the newer GPON ONTs even higher). Verizon bumps your internet speed automatically to compensate. It's up to the max that the ONT can support, so if you have 50Mbps service, and you have a BPON ONT, then yeah, you take a bit of a hit. When I first signed up I had 5/2 internet service, and my speed would actually go UP when my kids watched VOD. In fact, my kids are watching VOD right now, and I ran a speed test, and I got my full speed.
