Believe it or not, it was eight years ago that DIRECTV first announced that it would be ending standard definition local service. The move, originally planned for 2019, was pushed to 2020 for logistical reasons. And then 2020 happened and I guess it didn’t seem like the right time to change the way people watched TV.
