I'm mostly trying to focus on other games right now too (Hitman, Dishonored 2, Firewatch). I won't go after these Christmas skins as hard as I did for the Halloween ones but I'm definitely going to try to get a couple.
Looks like the Holiday Special is live now. My client is downloading a 1.2 GB update now.
Update: MERRY CHRISTMAS!
Update 2: A quick glance through the hero gallery shows a disappointingly low amount of new skins. Not as robust as Summer or Halloween was, at least not in terms of characters I frequently use. A little upset that there's no Mercy or Ana stuff, although Zenyatta has a REALLY cool Nutcracker skin. There's a few winner's poses as things like that as well. Looks like I won't be going overboard in playing like I did during the Halloween special.
I am curious as to what the "Snowball Fight" entails.

Blizzard has formally apologized for Mei's underwhelming (and overpriced) Legendary Skin but promises to make up for it during the next event.

I have to admit that the skin is rather ludicrously classified as Legendary. I doubt there would have been as much backlash if it was a standard exclusive skin, which would have priced it at 750 as opposed to 4,000 credits. I got it in a loot box early on so I didn't really care. I'm still holding out hope for the Zenyatta Legendary Skin.

This is silly. There are lots of skins I'm not a big fan of so I just don't use those skins. I don't think I deserve an apology for them existing though. I don't think Mei's skin is that bad. I wouldn't spend my credits on it because I would rather put them towards skins I like better like that Zenyatta skin you posted.
For reference here is the terrible, free cosmetic skin everyone is so upset about....
Part of Blizzard's justification was that the change to her Cryo Freeze ability made it worth Legendary Status.

I got the Pharah winter skin and a couple cool heroic intros in my free boxes. I basically have every cool skin for Pharah and I never use her because I'm terrible at it. I have 3 of her legendary skins and two of the purple level skins now.

While Overwatch has been doing very well with various GOTY awards (including my own), it also has excelled in another field as well. Overwatch was the 11th most searched term on Pornhub in 2016.
