Interesting - those circles on the map are pretty accurate.

I am just outside the outer (yellow) circle for a spotbeam, and my signal strength - with a 30-inch dish (legacy of the E*5 era) - is 16 with a yellow bar.

So, people with normal size dishes outside the outer (yellow) circle are not going to get a signal, and in between the two circles is marginal.

Thumbs up to the guys who do the circles. ;)

nelson61 provided that data. I just spent the time of only selecting those two signal strength circles, coloring them green and yellow, then saving each jpg as the correct name.

Today is the first day I noticed the spotbeam on transponder 3. Apparently this is the Tucson spotbeam which is weaker than I would have expected being only 70 miles north of Tucson.

Guys I have a silly question. You can tell I'm new to this.

This was from the last uplink.

5270(13) - WMBB [MPEG4 HD] added to Ciel-2 129W TP 16 Spotbeam 51 (NA)(Panama City, FL-ABC)
5272(7) - WJHG [MPEG4 HD] added to Ciel-2 129W TP 16 Spotbeam 51 (NA)(Panama City, FL-NBC)
5273(28) - WPGX [MPEG4 HD] added to Ciel-2 129W TP 16 Spotbeam 51 (NA)(Panama City, FL-FOX)

Yet when I see all your posts the highest Spotbeam is 32. How can these stations be on Spotbeam 51?

Do they add more Spotbeams?? When I go to TP 16 it changes to Spotbeam, but 32 is the highest it will go.

I thank you all in advance, just an older guy trying to learn.

Don't confuse spotbeams with transponders. 32 transponders but lots more spotbeams, go to EKB: Dish Network Channels at 129° to see the complete list of channels and tp's and spotbeams. :)
