I have the slimline 5 LNB dish and am hooking up 4 DVR s and 2 non DVR receivers. I have 4 wires from the dish to the switch. My question is do I need 2 cables to each DVR or can I use one plugged into the appropriate output on the DVR device (HR22)?

If you want dual tuners you need 2 cables to each DVR.

What he said. The only way you can get the HR22 to use one coax and record on both tuners is if it was an SWM installation.

If I use a SWM setup how many tuners can I hook to it? It seems someone said I was limited to 8?

This is true, unless you parallel a couple of SWM8s. The SWMLine dish with built in SWM is limited to 8.

But keep in mind D* doesnt provide SWM8 modules, you will have to buy one on your own.
