xp antivirus malware. How do I get rid of it?

I have one pc with it. It is a terrible virus that has no unistall program but even if it has one, it won't uninstall. Anyone knows how to get rid of it? NAV does not do the job.

If you have a second computer take the drive out and put it in there and run the antivirus on it. That way the virus is not running and sabotaging the antivirus program.

Also, download free trials of other antivirus programs if the one you have is not working. Each one has its own strengths and may work. Kaspersky is the one I use and it has a 30 day free trial.

That's a good note about not booting to the affected drive - I usually use a BART-PE cd and run my tools off of it.

I run clamwin antivirus... Its free and it picks up stuff that the pay ones usually miss. Also try Spybot search and destroy and smitfraud like mentioned above...
