I just got this in my mailbox...

I am sorry to see Special X Go, I also like On The Rocks which put me in a mellow mood.

We just go word over the weekend from XM that they are pulling down 7 XM channels from their radio service, 4 of these are on DIRECTV. Unfortunately it's very short notice.

The channels that XM will no longer provide to DIRECTV are
The Torch (829)
Special X (848)
Fuego (870)
Luna (873)
They will not appear in the guide starting at 6:00am EST tomorrow morning.
No news yet if anything will replace these channels.
In addition to the four above, XM is also removing from their service Music Lab (XM 51), The Flow (XM 61), On the Rocks (XM 79).

Special X was "wierdness" like 24/7 Dr Demento.

It was best when it was a real channel on XM. But then XM cut it fromtheir lineup and made it online only where it went into limbo with no thought just a station on shuffle play.

What was special X?

What is any of that crap? I think Torch is religious, but all four of those sound like crap. Leave the rock, techno, and The Virus alone and get rid of whatever else you want as far as I am concerned! haha... but that would seriously suck for anybody that likes those stations.

Actually when they say "their service" they are obvoiusly talking about XM Online because all 7 of these have been off XM forever. In the case of On The Rocks, Music Lab and The Flow and Special X 4 years or more! Wow... I thought this was an old thread at first, and I didn't realize these were still on DirecTV.

The Virus will be gone after the Sirius merger.

They are getting rid of Opie and Anthony or moving them? I should have been more specific and said "Opie and Anthony" and not "The Virus," since that implies I like the station as a whole, and I don't like "Ron and Fez."

So what is to happen with Opie and Anthony?

Do you guys think these are being replaced or are the starting to clear some bandwith in anticipation of their upcoming sirius on xm with the merger?

I'd think they're still a few months away any new content even after the merger is final, which hasn't happened yet.

Howard will get them fired.

Don't know about Ron & Fez.

Howard sucks..... My wife and I will cancel our XM if Opie and Anthony go, and I think they will find that to be the case with a lot of subscribers. If they think that those who enjoy Opie and Anthony will just switch over and listen to that idiot Howard Stern, they have a lot to learn about their subscribers.

I've heard the music stations on both and hate the excessive DJ chatter on Sirius radio. XM has far better music stations. So if they get rid of all the XM ones and keep their Sirius counterparts, that too will be a cancellation reason in my book.

So, they can keep Howard but they aren't going to pay him with my subscription fees if they go making too many changes.

I never listen to the XM stations on Direct, but I do have XM service (MyFi portable XM receiver) that I listen to in the car and when I am skiing. It is nice to be able to listen to my Dodgers while doing spring skiing in the Rockies. With that said, I have never heard of these stations anyway. I pretty much only listen to Boneyard, Top Tracks, Deep Tracks, Big Tracks, some of the talk stations, MLB Homeplate, and the MLB stations.
