Anyone here an Xbox Preview Product Member?

I am. I can send you an invite if you would like. Basically you just get all the system updates a month early and occasionally you will get invited to closed betas. It got me into the Halo 5 and Evolve multiplayer betas before they were available to the public.

I've been in the program since it started and so far I haven't really gotten any bad updates that cause system instability or anything like that. They do tell you that there is a chance that could happen though since you are getting updates early.

Sweet thanks.

BTW, anyone playing COD? A might pick it up this weekend.
My only beef about buying it digitally through Xbox is there's no price match guarantee if the price drops anywhere within 30 days

I play it pretty regularly with some friends but we play on PS4 so I won't be much help to you there.

I mentioned before that I had been playing Smite on PC because I wanted to see what the big deal is with MOBAs. I signed up for early access to the Xbox One version back when I originally made my account on PC. Well I just got an email with my access code in it. They also gave me a second code to give to a friend. Since none of the friends I see in the real world play MOBAs I thought I would check in here and see if anyone wants it.

It's a free-to-play game so you aren't actually getting anything of real value if you take this code. The game is just still closed to the public on Xbox One so this is the only way in for now. The open release date has not been announced yet. The email does state that the Xbox One version is still in beta and that there are some known bugs. This isn't a typical beta where you only get access for a week or so though. This is early access to the actual game and it will be frequently patched leading up to the open release. You progress and unlocks you earn in the early access period stay with you after the full launch.

If you have been previously playing on PC you can transfer your account over to Xbox One. This is what I will end up doing since I bought the $30 god pack that includes all current and future characters that they will ever add to the game. This essentially eliminates the free-to-play model from the game unless you are really into buying cosmetic skins and voice packs.

If you don't want to spend money you will always have access to 10 player characters for free and you will earn in game currency to buy more as you play. You are given 5 gods to keep when you create your account and there are always another 5 free gods that rotate on a monthly basis.

Well, I got Smite downloaded and I fired it up to play last night. Unfortunately the feature to link your PC account isn't active yet. This means that instead of the rank, skins, and 50+ gods I have on my PC account I get to start with 10 gods at level 1 and an advertisement to buy the $30 god pack I already own.

It is still early access so I can't really get too mad about that. After looking at their forums it looks like they plan to have account linking available in the next couple weeks. I probably won't be playing until then because I don't want to start from scratch.

Looks like from now on, One controllers will have a built in audio jack like the Dual Shock 4 and not require those stupid proprietary cables.

Good. This is how it should have been from the start. Inventing proprietary connectors when universal, widely adopted alternatives already exist needs to end. Unfortunately that doesn't do much for the two original controllers I already own.

Well, here's the MASSIVE rumor of the day...

There's talk that Microsoft is looking to buy Silent Hills (The one based off of P.T.) and make it into an Xbox One exclusive. Once again, this is just a rumor and I sure as hell aren't going to get excited until I see an official announcement from Konami/Microsoft.

This video goes into more detail.

If you can stomach the obnoxious hosts it actually has some interesting information, although the idea that Silent Hills (or even the Silent Hill Franchise) Is worth BILLIONS of dollars is ludicrous to me. To put that in context, Minecraft (or rather the studio behind it) was purchased for $2.5 billion, and while I am a big Silent Hill supporter, it is not NEARLY the money making machine that MC is.

So recently I've been having some issues with my One. I'd get randomly disconnected from Live, and when this would happen my controller would crap out to the point where my One was unresponsive. This happened on 2 separate occasions and each time I didn't really investigate, mainly because I was inebriated at the times and just used a different system instead. But today I tried to get the Gears Beta going (which I found out you have to register for) and had the same issues so I said WTF? At first I thought it might be my controller so I gave it new batteries, but still messed up. Then I got out my new Xbox One PC controller but again had the same issues. Then I tried a hard reset and still nothing. Finally I decided to try the Network Troubleshooter and it turns out that my wireless card is broken and I need to send my One in for repairs. Fantastic. Luckily I can still connect via Cat-5 but after this week I'm going to have to send it to MS to get repaired. Still annoying that I won't be able to play some of my stuff for a while.

As mentioned during E3, the Xbox One Experience (UI) is getting a major update. Here's a rundown of some of the changes.

I would check your hardware again before you send it in. The day you posted this I was not able to do anything on Xbox Live either. They may have just been having problems that day.

In other news, the Gears beta is broken for me. I didn't register for it but they sent me a download code and a separate activation code saying I was registered as a preview member. I've redeemed both of those codes but when I tried to check it out last night everything would load up and then I would get a message saying I'm not authorized to participate in the beta.

I forced the app closed and tried to redeem my codes again but since I had already redeemed them it says they have already been used. The message I'm seeing in the beta tells me to go to gearsofwar.com and register for the beta. When I go to that website and sign in the first thing I see is a big banner saying "you're registered for the beta!''

So basically my Xbox tells me I can't play the beta I downloaded until I register on the website but the website won't let me register because Microsoft supposedly already did that for me as a preview member. I messed with it for about 20 minutes last night. I'll probably give it another shot tonight but if it doesn't just work when I launch the game I'll probably just give up on this beta.
