Well the new iOS 17 has me waiting for the Public Beta. No need for Developer as the features are just meh.

The AR HMD is better looking than I thought. Maybe next year. I'm a big fan of the Oculus Quest 2 currently,

Add another two inches and it may be suitable for those over the age of 40.
The question should be when do VisionOS applications become available and what will they offer. It better be incredible given the $3,500 price tag (before corrective lenses are added in).
That's why Apple does its Fall announcements.
Agree on the apps. FYI- the corrective lenses I bought for my wife to use the Oculus Quest were $75. I like the magnetic attachment as the Quest lenses snap in and it is not designed to be swapped out frequently.
Also, other HDR HD HMD's with panoramic view are competitive with the Apple HMD price so I was not surprised at the price, however, I was expecting $2500. But it is shown to do more than I thought possible. Is the extra worth $1000 more? Jury's out on that.
Part of my decision to buy has to do with whether I can generate the cash based on market conditions and other expense priorities once this becomes available.
The "street" forecast was for $3,000 so it was a shock to almost everyone.
I can think of much more interesting things to do with that kind of cash in this economy.

I would say it depends what your need for the money you have and how easy it was to access it. Also, it won't be a first time buyers for someone who was never into 3D video, or the early Oculus HMD's. much less the Quest 2.
I still have my original Oculus HMD that is cable connected to my 3D editing computer. But after seeing some of the VR on Steam, I got hooked on some of the game apps. When the Quest came out that had no cable tether I bought it immediately. I was never really into games on the Play Station or Xbox but HMD VR was really amazing. The StarWars series of 4 games and Red Matter 1 and 2 are my favorites.
Anyway, I saw this video that did a good job of explaining what this Apple Vision Pro will do that is different than the Quest 2. Worth a watch even if only curious.

For most, it surely has a more lot to do with value than it does with having cash to burn.
No mention if the AVP is expected to support some “must have” (or not) exercise program (app?). Yes, given a year some third party might develop such. But somebody needs to develop a killer app for this, or it’s toast. And porn ain’t gonna save it.

Usually when a device references "Pro" version it usually is never built for the broad retail market. I see this so often with people on this platform who just have to have the super fast Gigabit internet speed so they can see big numbers on the meter. Yet all their use is a single computer or smart phone reading Twitter or watching an occasional video short. So some will indeed just have to have the pro stuff. Most who want VR will just settle for the Oculus (Meta) Quest2 for under $300 that can store hundreds of games with thousands to select from including dozens of exercise games. The most popular VR game is Beat Saber an aerobic rhythm game.
I would say if you never tried VR before, start with the Quest 2, even the lite version before setting a budget for the Apple Vision Pro. Quest 2 is not AR, just VR while the Apple product is emphasizing AR with VR capability. As you might guess AR is much harder to do right than VR.
$3500 for Vision Pro from Apple to much? Check out Meta Quest 3 for a Mixed Reality HMD with many games and apps already in their library.

This being a first generation Apple product, you know that it will be improved in the Apple Vision Pro BiFocal Edition, followed by improved battery life in the Third Eye Edition, then improved performance in the 4-Eyes Edition, etc.
With Apple indicating its use on a plane for a watching a movie, it is odd that the external battery pack gives it under two hours of use.

While I do have a Facebook page for family stuff, I was pretty upset when Facebook made Oculus users require a Facebook account. Buy soon discovered I could create a separate anonymous Facebook account. I created a second one with anonymous fictitious name and special CC billing info for purchasing apps and games. There is no record or connection between the two. There is nothing in that anonymous account that references the real one or vice versa to the public. However, Facebook does have that CC info that is real.
