I just happend to stumble across this site looking up feedbacks for Dish Network as I did just sign up with them today and they're coming out tomorrow to install. But after seeing all the complaint threads about their service and tech quality, I'm a little nervous. Can someone tell me...did I just open the gates to hell? Thanks.

If you believed their advertising about low prices, YES YOU DID. If you believe the quality of their equipment maybe, they can send out a bad software download very easily.

What reason did you choose Dish over another provider? If nothing beside you reading postings here has caused you to doubt your decision, then you should not doubt your choice just based on opinions of others.

Well currently I'm with Brighthouse and I just can't stand them anymore. The boxes are way too laggy and just the other day my box froze up so I did the unplug 15sec thing and then all my recorded programs were gone. Uverse isn't in my area atm and I've had DirecTV before when they first came around but got rid of them due to constant signal lost. I'm sure they're a lot better now but I wanted to go with someone new this time around and Dish seemed reasonable but now I feel I just did something stupid.

I just have no one else to turn to....it seems any company you go with now ends up letting you down.

A lot of us have run from dish.. quite a few stayed.. the price of dish has gotten pretty bad.. if you only have one receiver your ok.. add 1 or 2.. and watch your bill almost double..

programming will come and go more on dish than any other provider (read some of the past complaints of dropped programming).. the software update..good lord can they bust up your system.. boxes are faster.. but software breaks something every release..

that was my experience before switching..

Keep in mind, unhappy people are far more likely to complain and post their complaints. I daresay despite some claims posted here, most Dish customers remain quite happy. You may notice a significant percentage of the negative posts are repetitive, and from the same few people. Think they may be holding a grudge?

Things change. Good deals don't last forever. You'll likely be quite happy, especially with the ViP series, as long as you don't hold unrealistic expectations of something for nothing.

I'm happy. I'm staying. I have HD250 + Platinum + Penny Cinemax, one owned 722 and two leased 612's on an EA dish. So I didn't get to enjoy all the misplaced internationals when the video router in CO failed. ;)

What package did you go with, and what receivers are you getting? New customers get some pretty sweet deals even now.

+1

The nature of discussion forums brings out the negative much more strongly than you might expect. And we've got our share of constant complainers about both Dish and Direct, I've complained myself.

But if the deal you signed up for is at a price you like or can live with, and Dish delivers that, then it will be a good experience I suspect. I've looked at the deals that Dish is offering now, very good deals, good subscription packages and plenty of channels to view on the best HD equipment (IMO) in satellite TV.

Those that have switched recently are mostly those with lots of equipment which were affected more by the recent equipment charge changes than are those of us that just have 2 or 3. And as with any switchers, they need to vent a bit about why. Some are venting nearly every day... :)

I was trying to be nice! :)

I've done some complaining myself, but I have a 722k and 625, America's Everything Pack, HD and HD platinum, and I'm pleased with what I have now although I would like a bit lower fee for the 625.

I just went with the Top 200 package and I'm getting 3 Recievers and one being HD DVR. Have no clue what the models are though as I never asked.

Also, thanks to everyone who posted and trying to keep me in good spirits about my choice, I was getting pretty overwhelmed with all the negative feedback.

imho directv installs are far worse than dish. directv only has subcontractors and hsp's. poor bastards are paid per job. my dish guy that did my initial install stayed at my house a good part of the day wall fishing all my lines. if a subcontractor comes out tomorrow send him away and ask for an in house tech, you'll be glad you did

I have also did my share of complaining, especially about the fee increase. But in all honesty I am quite happy with Dish in spite of their short comings. As high ad I think that the fees for extra boxes are, to get two tuners ( to 2 separate) tv's ( yes I know one is SD) the fee would be $10 per month with DirecTv.

Are the two other receivers just standard receivers, no DVR? Are they HD or SD, and do you know if they will provide service to 2 tv's?

Believe me, this site can get very self-embarrassing because of a FEW "pack mentality" individuals who just post to "pound their chests off" to one another. If you have done your homework and know all the ins and outs, you should be fine. I've been around for seven or more years and have no intention of leaving

Well one thing for CERTAIN the E contract protects THEM and not YOU.

They state clearly E may change anything at any time and your still under contact for the full term.....

frankly I think congress needs to create a tv consumer protection bill.. to reign in some of the worst offenders, currently thats dish but others will likely follow.

I am one of the most vocal complainers but think this post sums it up well.

When you finally leave E they will charge you 15 bucks per receiver to mail them back.... at least thats the current charge it could go up too...

IF you don't want to get screwed with outrageous additional receiver fees , you need to make sure you pick no more than a 211k as your second and third receiver.

The price for duo tuner dvrs( 522,625,622,722,722k) as additional receivers, after the first is now $17.00 fricking dollars per additional receiver.

If you have the solo dvr ( 512,510,612) as additional receivers after the first it is $10.00 each.

If you have the Duo or Hd duo receivers(322,222,222k) you will pay $14.00 per additional receiver after the first.

The price of a solo ,hd solo receiver ( 301,311,381,501,508, 211,211k,411) is only $7.00 per additional receiver after the first receiver on your account. The cool perk with the 211k is that you can add your own external hard drive to it and pay the ONE time only fee of $40.00 to turn your 211k into a dvr. Applies to all 211ks on your account. You can record two channels at a time - 1 sat and 1 ota- if you connect an ota antenna to you receiver. IF you don't want a dvr , you can still get a 211k and just use it as a regular receiver.

IF you steer clear of the more expensive receivers as your additional receiver, you would pay no more than $14.00 a month and you would get hd on each tv in your house assuming you have the 722k or 922 on your main hd tv.

VCR with 722k

Is there a way to connect a 722k to Wifi?
