Of course it’s a better deal! Any and all hardware upgrades I need to continue to watch the programming I’m paying for are no cost to me. Main reason I left satellite was because when I bought my first HDTV in 2006 I didn’t want to pay $1K for an HD DTiVo only to shell out more cash in a few months when that became obsolete with MPGE 4. Or upgrade if I just want to upgrade for the hell of it. I traded in a remote control because I wanted the new model that illuminated in the dark, free to me. It’s nice to have that freedom. As for recycled hardware, I’ve never received a DVR that was more than 2 months older then stamped on manufactured date provided by Scientific Atlanta/Cisco.
