Of course it's a better deal! Any and all hardware upgrades I need to continue to watch the programming I'm paying for are no cost to me. Main reason I left satellite was because when I bought my first HDTV in 2006 I didn't want to pay $1K for an HD DTiVo only to shell out more cash in a few months when that became obsolete with MPGE 4. Or upgrade if I just want to upgrade for the hell of it. I traded in a remote control because I wanted the new model that illuminated in the dark, free to me. It's nice to have that freedom. As for recycled hardware, I've never received a DVR that was more than 2 months older then stamped on manufactured date provided by Scientific Atlanta/Cisco.
Once again, I'M NOT ASKING FOR A FREE RIDE!!! All I'm asking is to have provided to me what is needed to continue enjoying the programming I'm already paying for. And satellite can't and won't do that, and I left. Simple as that.
