Hello Everyone,

I have a general question if anyone can help.

If I buy a used Bell express vu receiver I was wondering if I will have problems in the future with the following.

1) volatile memory- When the battery goes dead that is located on the “motherboard” so will my receiver. Correct??
2) If that is the case, do I get a new box from bell ?

Thank you for your help

ok maybe I should start from the beginning. Does the receiver have an internal battery...??

It should look just like watch battery except much bigger :)

Did anyone open their receivers ?

i know for SURE all starchoice receiver have internal battery, but need some info on bell express Vu ones..

that keeps all the memory active when one turns off the receiver...

When you plug the unit in, it has to download the programming, and the clock is set via the satellite, so I dont know why it would be needed

also, I am moving this to the "other satellite" section :)

Well, IF it's anything like the lithium "watch" battery that's used in PCs to preserve the CMOS RAM data, the battery only drains when the box is unplugged (modern ATX systems) or powered down (older AT systems). I've seen some 8+ year old PCs whose original battery is still good.

BEV 6100 can't find SW21 switch?
