This is starting to look like the Sweden game. Lots of shots on goal but nothing to show for it yet. I was thinking 2-0 also.

Sitting waiting for my BBQ mix at L&L and they had a game on TV (I believe it was Japan vs USA???). This was the first time I realized the WC was going on. Had no idea soccer was being played.
Of course they, like most businesses had an SD picture stretched to fit a 16:9 TV, so the PQ was awful and all of the players were short and fat (stretched). I said to myself, "Those guys look like fat* girls", before I realized they were girls.
*They were not actually fat; they just looked fat because the TV was in stretch-o-vision mode

Other than the missed scoring opportunities, I am very impressed with the US team. A lot of pressure, good possession, accurate passes. Very impressive! Now they just need to take a breather, and continue the pressure in the second half. Just improve the accuracy of the goal shots.

Two 15 min extra periods and the penalty kicks. There is no golden goal so if we go to extra time both 15 min sessions will be played regardless of how many goals may be scored in that time.

Are you serious about the penalty kicks after very brief extra sessions? The NHL doesn't do penalty shots during the playoffs because the fans realize they are total B.S.

Wasn't kidding at all. I had no idea the world cup was going on. Apparently few people around here knew of it as well. Heck, even my students, whom are avid soccer fans, never mentioned it. Our school's boys soccer team had a car wash yesterday and not a single person talked about the worlds cup. Any sports they mentioned were the pending NBA lockout, the Lakers, and the Dodgers. Even the soccer coach who is a huge soccer fan has only been talking about the Tour De France.
This is the first restaurant or bar I have been to in the last 2 weeks that was showing any soccer at all. They have all been showing Dodgers and/or Angles games, and/or the Tour De France.
