As I was reading the CE post for this week, someone ask what more can they add to a DRV. It got me thinking about what I would like to see, so I though I would start a Wishlist thread and maybe it will get read and added. Add you wishes too.

I would like to see a merged To Do List and/or Series Manager for MRV. When a show starts up for a new season, I have to go around to each DRV to see if I have it set up on one to record. It would be great if I could see it all from which ever one I am currently at.

Along with that, share the recording icon from each DVR to the guide on all DVR's and receivers. Again so I can see what is recording/going to record with out running around the whole house.

Access to 'Manage Recordings' from the non-DVR receivers. Again, with merged To Do List/Series Manager

OTA scanning, we know it can be done as the HR34 does it, bring that capability to the HR2x series.

Like you mentioned, significant improvements in multi-room dvr management

-Autotune for HR's.
-OTA scan for HR's w/AM21.
-Customizing options such as:
-adding logos to the guide (some want it, some don't) seems like it's something that could be turned on/off.
-ability to see more time in the guide (like Dish) (again, some want it some don't)
-Ability to re-write what channels are called (I would like to call my locals by calls and have the affiliate logo, not all the WRALDT2 garbage and not have "HD" part of the channel name causing clutter in the channel name section.
-Previously mentioned MRV management improvements.

Ability to change channels from my blackberry
pip
OTA scan with my am21
Faster access to channels after selecting them in the guide
More music applications
Wireless access to tuner
Netflix
intranet access without added equipment for laptop access to dvr
gigabit network system

Lots of good ideas! Keep them coming!

How about an app. for viewing recorded content on tablets (iPad/Android/BB/etc). Would be too cool to take the iPad in the kitchen while cooking and be able to watch recorded content from the DVR's

I second the Remote Control app, but make it for all platforms (iOS/Android/BB)

I like the idea of PIP (Picture in Picture) also. I have always wonder why they have never added it to the dual tuners DVR's from the start years ago.

They have a Remote control App for the Android ....
Some like it, some don't.

DirecTv's Android App (actually there is an iOS, Android, Blackberry, Windows Phone, and Palm app) just lets you see the guide, add recordings from the guide, and order movies/events. Basically a DVR Scheduler.

There is also currently an iPad App from DirecTV. It has more capabilities (Limited Streaming Video, and Remote Control). I guess what I was trying to suggest was more development of the iPad App to the other platforms, and add the ability to stream recorded show from the DVR, not just the Limited show it allows to stream live now.

There is also a Remote Control app in the Android Market, but it is NOT a DirecTv App, but rather a 3rd Party App.

Maybe I am getting to picky! =)

Actually, your right on the money, while I mentioned about the Remote app, I'm waiting to see if they come up with an app that works like the ipad app as well .... can't believe. People would make one for 1 format only, provided it works well.

Here's my wishlist from that thread:

Fix MediaShare so it properly works with DNLA compliant servers (and supports MPEG4 playback with various containers).

Add Slacker Radio. Pandora is great and all, but after a bit, I can predict what song will be next.

Add Netflix playback (yea, yea it'll compete with their VOD offerings. Whatever, get over it.)

If you have more than 1 DVR on your network, they work as one. Record a show and the collective will figure out which tuner on which DVR who has the most disk space will record the show. Regardless of which receiver you ask the show to be recorded from.

Let us add external storage +2TB. Making adding a RAID array easier (it's a real PITA now, but do-able).

Let us save the "personality" of the DVR off to a USB stick (favorite channels, record to-do lists) so that when my DVR dies, I can replace the settings (but not necessarily the shows) quickly and don't have to spend days getting it back in order.

Another one:

Allow one to change the theme of the guide. Some people have problems reading certain colors on certain backgrounds. Allow us to pick the text color and/or background colors.

Really love the additional recording option that Dish DVR has to set a timer for a specific time M-F.

Also like the external dive option of Dish to transfer shows to keep long term.

This would be a longshot, but I'd like to see the ability to transfer recordings from one DVR to another. I'm down to 12% free on one of my DVRs, so would like to offload some stuff to one of the others.

If I understand what you're saying correctly, you can do that. Menu > Recordings > Manage Recordings > Manual Record

Oh, here's another one. Fix it so the guide doesn't off-set shows that were recorded in a different time zone. When we switch to or from DST shows recorded in the other time zone get their time recorded display screwed up. So all those Days of our Lives, er, uh, I mean Top Gear I recorded at 1pm now show up that they recorded at 2pm (or vice-versa).

1- autotune for dvr's (can't believe they still haven't done this!)

2- customizable guide like dish has.

3-adding an ext hard drive without losing the use of the internal one.

4-channel logos in the guide.

5-ota scan for the other dvr's. (glad the HR34 can do it!)

Not too fast. I hooked up the brand new OTA adapter I got in on Friday to the HR34. Can't figure out how to get it to scan. It still goes by my zip code. I am missing a local channel and can't get it.

i'll check that tonight digi.

It goes by zip code then does a scan after entering the secondary zip code. Only channels in the two zip codes you enter will get guide data. Any channels in DMAs beyond those two will just show a generic message "regular programming" or something like that (can't remember).
