Eight hours of coverage is not enough for some fans - so Rogers Sportsnet will cover the NHL Trade Deadline with wireless alerts.
The text message trade deadline alerts service is now live. It will provide text messaged bulletins throughout the week through to the trade deadline on Thursday. Fans who register can get breaking news direct from the Sportsnet newsroom to their cell phones.
"This is all about making Sportsnet as accessible as possible to as many fans as possible," said David Ballingall, Vice President Marketing, Rogers Sportsnet. "We want to reach out to connect with sports fans regardless of where they are - on TV, print, online, and direct to their cell phone, with branded, proprietary content."
Viewers can also be a part of the show on Thursday. Sportsnet will enable its text messaging chat ticker Thursday allowing viewers to provide their comments on the days' activities via text messages sent from their cellphone.
The services add to Sportsnet's already comprehensive Trade Deadline on-air and on-line package.
The Deadline Day coverage begins at 8:00 a.m. (ET)/ 5:00 a.m. (PT) on sportsnetnews. The coverage kicks into high gear at 10:00 a.m. (ET)/ 7:00 a.m. (PT) when the Hockeycentral At The Deadline panel takes over for eight consecutive hours of coverage, the specialty channel announced.
