Winter Storm

Always clean the main dish off, completely.Sometimes, like in our instance we have a dish 500 for 129,the elevation is so low that the snow actually collects on the lnb eye, have to sweep or squirt it off instead of the dish.

In my case I can't see the front of the dish so I get a hose and hook it up to my hot water faucet and spray the back of the dish.
I just takes a few minutes and the snow is gone from the dish and programming is back.

I had to go out and sweep the snow off my dishes. Only one of them lost spotbeam signal, it was 61.5. It was fine when I got up yesterday and w/ the 50 mph wind blowing the snow into it I lost signal w/in about an hr. It's the dish on the left. Snow day Monday 002.JPG

I'm in Illinois & use the EA & we had snow most of the day on Tues but none in the evening. I get the local HD channels but not the higher ones such as FX or History.

Since the storm has passed for now I'm not sure if it's still blocking the signal in the atmosphere at the uplink or downlink positions, or if there is snow and/or ice on my dish.

If it's my Dish I have no idea how to clean it off. It's on the roof near the edge but it is 2 stories straight up. I thought about using just the long handle of a roof rake to carefully clean off the dish, but I'm concerned about knocking an LNB out of alignment. Do you think it's safe trying to use a long pole because it's not easy to precisely control a 20 ft pole.

Snow starting tonight, going off and on through Sunday.9" to 1' being forecast.Feb.has been a very wintry month.

I have a black Dish, put Rain X on it and the LNB. No issues.

I've often wondered about the effects of rain-x?Always knew better about pam and the likes.I could use some rain-x now. Already swept the dish once, getting ready for round 2.

I use the snow brush / ice scraper from my car, but I'm going to have to try Rain X for next year. Our most recent snow fall resulted in a a sheet of ice forming over the LNB's and a couple inches of snow stuck to the dish.
