Win10 fixes old netbooks

That is good to know. Hadn't even thought about that....but who would if one didn't try or see your post. :)

I installed Win10 on a laptop yesterday and had some real issues. It turns out the problem was windows update program. Win10 install needs to check for updates and will stall at that point because win7 is already using it. You need to make sure that windows update is not in use when installing Win10 from a download. I found if I install win7 and start IE it offers me a Win10 download immediately. :) So if you install Win7 to get the Win10 download, don't enable windows updates automatically.

I'm currently installing on an HP mini that came with XP and has Win7 Home Premium now. Intel Atom 1.6g

Three hours from the start of the download to the end of the install on the HP mini. One kind of catch-22 in this deal: During the install you have the option to turn off a myriad of "Big Brother" type services. I turn off all that stuff so I can have as many CPU cycles as possible for my use. But when you get to the end you are told about Cortana and no option to cancel it and that program re-enables all that "Big Brother" type stuff until you turn off Cortana after the install.
