According to my local retailer, the Greenville NC HD locals will be activated today. Same guy who told me last October that we would have the hd locals by the second quarter of this year. So I believe him. Until he turns out to be wrong... 
Even if they are lit today, I won't see them as I need a second dish to add to my 1000.2 to get the 61.5 satellite. The retailer says Dish will provide the dish and installation free but I have to wait until they are lit to call him to arrange installation.

Actually I am hearing we could see Cartoon Network HD soon... (Possibly by the end of the week) it was supposed to launch at the same time as CNN HD did but there were some technical issues with it so it did not launch.
Personally since this channel shows ZERO TRUE HD I would wish they would hold off on giving this one to us for awhile. I would rather have USA HD and SCIFI HD.

I don't disagree but it is not as if this is an eiher/or choice. As much as I would like to see SCiFiIand USA I don't see any point to delaying other launches.

Unfortunately, I am coming to the belief that with Dish, what we as Dish Customers want in HD seems to be of little consequence. I do not think anyone was clamoring for CNN HD, nor is anyone clamoring for Cartoon Network.
I would guess there are about 10 Networks that Dish Customers would rather have had.
USA, Sci-Fi, Speed, Bravo, FX, ESPN News, Smithsonian, and Disney leap immediately to mind. And I am sure there are more.
We have CNN HD (and might get Cartoon Network) because Dish has a better relationship with Time Warner than it does with NBC-Universal, Fox or Disney.
At this point I am going to stop paying attention to these threads. It's just too frustrating. Instead, I am going to spend more time looking for buds on my neighbor's trees. WHen they leaf out, I am calling DIrectv. Not only does Directv have more HD, but for me it will be quite a bit cheaper over the course of the 2-year commitment. And I won't worry that Dish will have something that Directv does not.

Yea, but look at the deal Charlie got. A whole new HD channel for next-to-nothing: did TW laugh a lot when they signed the contract?
Watch DN market the s**t out of CNN-HD and CN-HD (if it shows up).

Since I'm on the HD Only package, my kids would love to get this channel.
At least Cartoon Network "HD" wouldn't be compressed so it would look better. SciFi HD shows very little HD but we cry hourly for it. I rarely watch CNN, but yesterday I was home and found myself with it on for several hours just glad to have something new in HD! E* is breeding addict behavior!
I care about 10 of the 25 National HDs that Charlie showed us on the last Charlie Chat.
CNN HD was my #1, then Tennis Channel, HBO2, IFC, SciFi, Smithsonian, MGM, AMC, Weather Channel, and ESPN News in that order.
Obviously we don't desire the same channels in the same way, although SciFi would have been my #2 if they had launched in time for BSG premier.

Who decides if the channel will be HD or stretch -o- vision do the satellite companies do it or does the signal come directly from cartoon network.
