Hey guys had a (hopefully) quick question for anyone who might know. I just recently acquired a wildblue dish and lnb and it is about the strangest dish I have ever had in my possession. I was curious if I have any options for FTA with this combo, and I was also curious if there is anyone who can point me towards info on the LNB (it has one TX and one RX connection). If the LNB isn't usable is there an LNB that I can adapt to this dish without heavy modding? Thanks in advance for any replies.

Shaggy, do not dismember this dish or the Rx/Tx LNBF assembly (called the TRIA). That dish is worth $200 - $300! So, don't waste it on FTA!

The TRIA uses 36V to operate and it is Ka band, so it is not useful for FTA anyway. The dish is OK for FTA reception, but you can do much better with other dishes and why waste this expensive item on FTA when you could buy several excellent setups for what you can get out of it on E-Bay.

BTW, that is how I am accessing the internet and this site - via a Wild Blue satellite dish aimed at Anik F2 @ 111.1W. I set this up myself using a SuperBuddy meter from Applied Instruments. Probably the easiest dish that I ever set up. Somewhere around 3 years of service with Wild Blue now.

Didn't they require you to have certification to setup the WildBlue dish in order to get it activated?

I wonder if the dish without the lnb is worth much of anything.
