I'm also annoyed when people put their state motto, bird, flower, or something else only locals would know.
For instance, the term "SoCal" means Southern California to us who live here.
To anyone out of state, it's meaningless gibber.
I'm not interested in what little city you live in.
But if there is a big one I might have heard of, within 50 miles, that'd be great!
Sometimes people will indicate something like "north east corner" of their state.
That makes me lookup a map, pick a city, and work from there.
It's an extra step I don't need, if trying to help.
Same with zip codes: I have to look it up.
Recently, someone used GPS coordinates.
I looked 'em up, thought he lived in Los Angeles, and gave bad advice on OTA programming he couldn't get.
When newbies ask what else there is to watch besides 97w, I love to mention 30w.
But ya gotta live in the eastern 3/5ths of North America.
