I understand the rules of blackouts and rest assured,I find it all to be just about the dumbest thing I have ever heard.I am just trying to figure out why Directv offers a sports package in their premier option when you subscribe if you cant even watch any games on tv due to the blackouts? And it seems so nice they dont mention any of that when signing up.Guess I needed to do more research. But do they really think I want o pay extra for these FSN channels and regional channels to watch Summer Sanders 900 hundred times a day or some crappy overseas fighting?I paid to get to see a game on tv,all the time. Not to watch a blank screen because they cant work a damn deal to get the rights. And Im in a situation where I cant get cable where I live so Im stuck!!!Any suggestions?Cause I paid for service, not for blank screens and crappy programs. This was the one and only reason I was happy to switch from Comcast when I moved.Alot of games, but thena gain,at least Comcast was never blacked out and if so,it was ALWAYS,on a free channel to watch.

On the Sports Sub page at the bottom is:

Blackout restrictions apply. In accordance with blackout rules, customers who subscribe to SPORTS PACK will not receive games outside their market on these channels. Out of market games are sold separately via professional and collegiate sports subscription packages. Click here to determine which teams are available in your area.

If you want out of market sports, you have to pay for the package. If you don't like the package, call and have them remove it from your service.

Then you might check out the specific packages you can subscribe to for the sports
that you want.;)

Sports Pak is good for college sports as well as the "other" channels like the soccer channel and stuff. If you care about those things of course.

Sports pack is mainly for your local sports games, but not outside your market.
btw, D* does not decide who gets blacked out, those rules are set by the individual teams.

This sounds like what I went through last summer. I added the Sports Pack thinking I would get all these games and stuff. Didn't work that way. I got to timeshift many shows that are on all the RSN's and see a few shows unique to each RSN but that was about it. I was going to cancel after the 30 day period to avoid the early cancellation fine, but noticed that most college football games were in the clear so I kept it until college football was finished.

You will not get any more pro sports than you get now, but you will have access to a lot of college sports. It may be worth it to you for that alone.

Regarding college sports, it's limited. The big football and basketball programs are all covered under subscription umbrellas and the CSTV / ESPU channels.
