Wholesale cost of channels

Interesting that the NHL Network costs more than the MLB and NBA Networks. You would think there are many more baseball and basketball fans than hockey fans in the US.

MLB is probably the least expensive now because it is a new channel. Providers are not going to pay a lot for something unknown and new.

Plus they do not need to charge as much since the carriage of the MLB Channel is tied to the carriage of Extra Innings. MLB makes its money from the providers off of Extra Innings; they don't need to make as much off of one channel

It would be interesting know the wholesale price for Porn channels, Fox Soccer Plus and other premium movie channels like HBO, Showtime and Starz.
